Got a call from someone claiming to be with TPS, said they knew my phone was on direct debit and wanted to confirm the expiry date. Didn't really appreciate me being a bit suspicious and asking questions, so they just hung up. I looked up the number afterwards and blocked it on my phone, but I’m sure someone else will end up getting the same call.

Got a call from someone saying they were calling on behalf of the Telephone Preference Service. They asked for the expiry date on the card I use to pay my phone bill direct debit. I didn’t give it and told them I found the call quite dodgy. They started acting a bit pushy and ended the call sharpish when I said no way was I sharing card info.

Some bloke rang me up saying he was from the Telephone Preference Service. Kept calling me Mr Barbara, which was a bit odd. He asked if the address and postcode he had were right - which they were. Then he started asking me to confirm the expiry date on my card, saying I pay my phone bill by direct debit? That felt totally irrelevant. When I said I wasn’t giving out any card details, he got all annoyed and warned me I’d be flooded with telemarketing calls. I just ended the call there and then!

This morning alone I got 5 calls, and since we came back from the shops another 3 have come through. It’s really taking a toll on my elderly mum, especially since we just had to lay my dad to rest. Now she’s all upset and stressed out because of these relentless calls. It’s awful how businesses can get away with pestering people like this. Does anyone know a way to put an end to it?

Ive had loads of calls today but my BT Call Guardian blocks most cos strange numbers gotta say who they are first. Usually scammers just drop the call straight away since they cant get past that. So annoying but at least it helps keep the spam down.

Sometimes there’s no one speaking, other times they claim to be from the TPS. I ended up yelling into the phone while they just stayed quiet and calm. Absolute wankers! I've gotten a bunch of calls from this number. The initial one was from a guy who said my phone bill was paid with an expired card - he called himself Roy. Then, not long after, the same number called again, but this time the caller said his name was John. When I asked some questions, he just ended the call.
