So they said they were ringing from Milton Keynes. A woman actually knew my name and even my postcode. She asked whether I used an iPhone or Samsung. I asked how they got my postcode, and she replied she was from the UK’s HR. I was like, "Wait, HR of the entire United Kingdom?" and she said "Yeah". When I asked what company she was with, she just ended the call. They definitely have my name and postcode. Marked it as suspicious.

Got two calls over the past couple of days (possibly a third with a no caller ID missed call), all from guys with Indian accents trying to scam personal info. The first one claimed I lived at an old postcode, and when I corrected him, he started asking loads of questions, but when I asked who they were, they just cut off. The second call I missed completely. The third one said I had life insurance with AVIVA (which I don’t), then quickly switched to saying it must be Legal & General, before asking which provider it was. When I asked where they got my info from, they hung up straight away.

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent saying he was from Nationwide. Since I know their call centres are here in the UK, around Swindon, I just told him I wasn’t buying it and ended the call.

17.08.23 - Got a call from this number today - the person spoke with a foreign accent - said they were with BT and my IP address was being hacked - claimed they were trying to help customers - I told them I wasn’t a BT customer - they said BT is the main provider for internet lines - asked me to turn on my router - it was already on but I didn’t mention it - after a bit I just said I’d had enough and ended the call - looked up the number here and it just confirmed my doubts.

This is a total SCAM. Don’t even think about calling them back. They’ve somehow nicked my Direct Debit info and set up four payments in my name - BT, John Lewis, Direct Line and Utility First. I’ve stopped them all but the bank is powerless to stop more appearing. Looks like I’m gonna have to shut my account down. Then the scammers phoned, asking for my postcode, pretending to be from Nationwide. I told them straight up I’d been hit by DD fraud from them lot and told them where to shove it. Wish I’d gone full Liam Neeson "Taken" mode on them. Fingers crossed they ring again.

I signed up on one of those car comparison websites using a fake name and made sure to select the option that says I don't want any extra service offers. When I asked what it had to do with their company, they just repeated the questions. I said "yeah, why do you need to know?" and they just said "thanks, goodbye" and hung up. I'm definitely going to ring back and give them a piece of my mind - it’s not right to be asking those sorts of questions, plus their attitude on the phone was awful.

Got calls from this number about 4 times now. They act like BT phone engineers who’ve just finished some work at your nearby phone exchange. Then they ask you to visit a certain website, supposedly for checking things, but it’s really to nab your IP and any other info to scam you. They might change their story sometimes but it’s always a con.

A guy rang me early morning about 9.30 on 22.08.17. He only asked if I was Punjabi and how many folks live in our house. When I answered, he just ended the call suddenly and said have a good day. It felt a bit odd and made me uneasy why he would wanna know how many people we have in the family.
