It said to "Press 2 to talk to someone", so I did, but after a ring tone it ended the call. Later on, I got a ring back from a Manchester area code (01613540623). The lady on the phone had a Geordie accent and was trying the same free boiler line. When I asked which company she was with, she wouldn’t say and just claimed she was calling from outside the UK. I pressed for answers but just got the same dodgy answer again and again. I joked I was surprised she hadn’t hung up at that point, and she cheekily told me I was being charged because I pressed 2. But when I reminded her she’d called me first, she quickly cut me off. Can it really be that pressing “2” on a call like that can cost me?
