“I am the neighbourhood representative for enhancing loft insulation. The current insulation you’ve got in place has been linked to moisture problems.” He then tried to arrange a time for a survey. Quite typical of these sorts of pitches. What’s alarming is that, unlike many of the usual questionable salespeople, he had a rather refined way about him that made his claims sound plausible.

I had a chap on the line inquiring about the insulation in my loft, including the colour, and he mentioned something about condensation issues. To begin with, it felt like I was listening to a pre-recorded spiel. Apparently, he’s making the rounds through the remaining homes in my area to offer complimentary assessments, claiming I could slash my heating bills by 20%. Not a chance, mate!
