I got a call from some company claiming to be Secure Homes Ltd, saying they offered a free alarm system but with a £299 installation fee. They insisted the alarm would contact emergency services like police, fire, or medical right away. That’s rubbish though - any alarm would first go to a monitoring service, not directly to emergency responders. If every home’s alarm went straight through to the police or fire brigade, they’d be overwhelmed. It felt like a total scam. They were pushing hard to get someone to speak with a rep about it, and since they were already lying over the phone, I’m not sure what they'd do face-to-face. Like, if there really was a fire, how would the fire service instantly know through this system? If that sort of setup existed, it wouldn’t be cheap at all. Watch out for this kind of cold calling rubbish and dodgy sales tactics. They also use the number 01902 426982.
