7 yearsGot a call that was dead silent for a good 10 seconds, then this woman with a strong Asian accent started her rehearsed pitch. As soon as she mentioned BT, alarm bells rang and I knew it was a scam. I cut her off straight away, telling her “This is Interpol, and we’ll be tracing this call.” She sounded really unsure and asked, “You’re Interpol?” I said, “Absolutely, and you...” CLICK - she hung up, probably freaked out. I figured fighting rubbish with rubbish might actually work sometimes. The number showed as 01899, supposedly from Biggar in Lanarkshire, Scotland. Can’t imagine that place housing a call centre, so for me it’s gotta be a number spoof.
