Got two calls this afternoon from some unknown numbers. When I told them I wasn’t going to share any info because I had no clue who they were, they seemed pretty annoyed. The second call was worse - the lady just kept talking right over me. When I tried to ask her to hold on and let me speak, she just cut me off and hung up.

Got a call from this number earlier claiming they were working with my car insurance and looking into some accident damage on my vehicle. I told them I hadn’t been involved in any accident, then they asked if anyone else was at my address, which they actually stated out loud. I just said their system should have the right contact info and then figured she was just wasting my time. She told me swearing wouldn’t help, so I told her to stop wasting time with nonsense and no real info. She then said it was a training call, that her and a few others were monitoring, and she’d be ending the call - along with my insurance apparently. Complete rubbish! The number was 01892 008000.

Got a call on my phone from someone saying they got my info from the DVLA and Motor Insurance cos apparently I’d been in a crash in the past couple of years (which never happened). I told her that straight away and she then asked if maybe it was someone else in my house? I was like, hold on, you said it was my details you had, didn’t you! I just wanted to mention that these firms often want your details because if you’ve experienced something like this, they might be able to help you recover some cash. I’m not entirely sure it’s taking advantage of folks, it’s kind of like those PPI claims where you could get a refund. It’s not a con, more like a marketing thing. Of course, if nothing’s happened to you, I get why you’d be annoyed, but if you have, then why not claim what’s due? Grab the chance while you can!
