Yet again, I've received a dodgy call from a spoofed number, this time claiming to be from South Uist, located in the scenic Outer Hebrides of Scotland! One would think that there couldn't possibly be any genuine BT scammers operating from such a remote area. The automated voice launched into a spiel about my broadband supposedly being disconnected by BT, which is quite laughable since my internet service is through a different provider entirely. The raspy voice then offered me two options: press 1 for their 'solution' to prevent disconnection, or press 2 to go ahead with the disconnection process - as if! Of course, I promptly blocked the number, but I know that will hardly help, as they seem to switch to new fake numbers every day. I’ve lost count of the numbers I've had to report. It’s disheartening to think that these scammers are still out there; I really wish there were more effective measures to snag them!
