I swiftly told the caller to shove off!13 yearsI received a rather dubious call from an individual claiming to represent BT Broadband, insisting that my computer was riddled with a virus. Immediately sceptical, I expressed my doubts regarding his affiliation with BT and mentioned my intention to hang up. He hurriedly intervened, stating he had my computer ID and could assist in rectifying the issue if I would power it up. Curious, I requested the identification number he claimed to have, mentioning that our household is quite savvy with IT matters, and I needed to ascertain which machine he was referring to. He provided a number, which I pointed out didn’t correlate with any of our devices. He proceeded to argue with me, suggesting Microsoft assigns unique codes to each computer, as if I was completely misinformed. When I finally managed to interject, I corrected him, explaining that we solely use Apple Macs. Following this revelation, the call was abruptly terminated!
