Got a call from a guy claiming his name was John Cooper, said it was about some kind of compensation I was owed. He asked if I ever had a mortgage or bank loan, which I said no to. Despite that, he insisted I was entitled to money because he guessed I was over 68. Then he tried to get my date of birth, and that’s when I just ended the call.

Got a call about some kind of money owed on my mortgage, which I don’t even have. When I asked them how they made that mistake, they ended up swearing at me. I wasn’t having it, so I told them off too and then just ended the call.

Got a call from John Cooper who claimed he’s with the Financial Conduct Authority. He told me I’m due a refund of £8,850 because of an overpayment on my mortgage. He asked me which bank I use but didn’t request any actual bank info. He said he’ll handle the paperwork and get back to me later today. Apparently, the cheque will arrive in a couple of days. I’m curious to see how this pans out!

He told me I had a claim sorted to get compensation for a mortgage loan I supposedly took, then asked me to pay £310 to finish the paperwork, promising a £3,800 cheque after. I got a call from someone claiming to be John Cooper from the Citizens Advice Bureau down in South East London. He told me I was eligible for some compensation linked to a loan secured against my mortgage. When I asked which Building Society was involved, he just hung up on me! My advice? Always be cautious from the get-go, don't hand over any details, and remember they should already have your info if it's a legit call trying to update you.

This number kept ringing me, with someone claiming to be from Windows support. She insisted there was a big issue with my PC and said she’d fix it for me. Thing is, my computer wasn’t even turned on or plugged in! Then she goes on about all these viruses and errors she’s detected. Sounds like a total scam to me. When I questioned her, she got really annoyed and started threatening me, saying she’d have to disconnect my computer and I’d need to buy a new one. I quickly put her in her place, and she clearly didn’t appreciate it.

Just a bit ago, I got a call where the person was trying to make me believe he was aware of my computer’s licence key, which ended with 00C04FD7D062. Turns out, this is actually something all Windows machines share, nothing unique. I read up on a scam called “Binary Blogger and the ZFSendToTarget Scam” - can’t share the link here but a quick Google search should show it up. Definitely a dodgy call!

I received multiple calls from a rather insistent woman whose accent suggested Asian heritage. She claimed to be representing Microsoft and insisted that my computer was compromised by a scam. I confronted her and accused her of attempting to scam me myself, before hanging up the phone. After that, I was bombarded with additional calls from her until she finally seemed to relent. It was evident this was nothing more than a scam operation.

I received a call from someone purporting to be from the Windows Service Centre. They initially said that my computer was under threat from hackers. I got a call from a guy with a strong Asian accent who didn’t sound very nice at all. It was hard to catch what he was saying, but I definitely heard something about 'Windows' and 'my computer'. I told him I don’t discuss my computer stuff on the phone and ended the call. He kept ringing me back, sounding even more pushy each time. On the third or fourth attempt, I just ignored the call. I quickly turned off my answerphone too, but he kept ringing until I just let it go unanswered. Honestly, it was quite creepy and put me on edge.

Some bloke sounded really cross and kept insisting on talking to my elderly folks.

They claimed to be from Sky, saying they had our names and address, and that our bill was actually lower now. But then they messed up and quoted a higher price than what we normally pay. They also asked for bank info, which of course we refused since if it was really Sky, they’d already have that. I hung up and then they called back twice straight away! Blocked them after that.

Received a call from this number by someone named Roy Morrison. He said he was a government official and told me I was owed £2,500 as compensation for illegal bank fees. According to him, a Mrs Barbara Shaw, supposedly a government solicitor, would be sent to my house with the cheque and all the documents so I could claim the money. He said I just needed to buy a paysafe voucher for £125, claiming it was the tax to be paid to HMRC. He told me to show the voucher to the solicitor when she arrives and then I’d get the cheque. Obviously, just a trick to scam £125 off me, maybe even more.
