A bloke who said his name was “Simon” rang me from 01865 951193 at 5:18pm on 7/1/21. Since I’d had insulation done about a year and a half ago, I listened to what he said. He claimed he was offering a free check for damp and mould in the loft. I asked him a few things to see if he was legit but he just said he was new and couldn’t really answer properly. I told him thanks but no thanks and ended the call. (By the way, this was a Dorset number and a mate nearby got a similar call about insulation too.)

I received a rather convincing call this morning from what I thought was a genuine person, only to discover it was a highly sophisticated automated system. Initially, I was completely taken in; it took several back-and-forths for me to realise I was speaking to a machine. There was only the faintest pause after I answered each question, as if it were scouring its database for the right reply! They claimed they needed to organise a complimentary assessment of my loft insulation due to some condensation concerns. When I inquired how they obtained my number and outright asked if I was conversing with a robot, the reply was, "I'm somewhat new at this, so I'll need my manager to give you a ring," before abruptly ending the call.

We've been registered with the Telephone Preference Service for approximately a decade, yet we still find ourselves inundated with incessant calls regarding 'grant-assisted loft insulation' that we’ve never had fitted. It's incredibly frustrating as some days we receive three or even four calls in a single day! Despite our attempts to press "one" as instructed in order to put an end to these nuisances, the calls persist relentlessly. Is there any hope for action against this Digital Solution Marketing Company? The whole point of the TPS seems utterly pointless at this stage - it’s hardly doing its job, so one must wonder what its purpose truly is. I received a rather dubious call regarding loft insulation that might be leading to condensation issues. It was blatantly a scam. When the caller requested my personal information, I made it clear that I do not share such details with unsolicited callers and promptly ended the conversation.

Got three calls from this bloke, but BT Call Guardian blocked them each time. Fair play for trying, but if you’re on the level, just say who you are and what company you’re with - otherwise, no chance I’m answering. Total waste of time.

Simon called about loft insulation and lagging. I told him lagging is normally for pipes, not lofts! I explained I live in a basement flat and the builders did a brilliant job taking down all the ceilings, using my stash of empty pizza boxes as loft insulation. I was quite impressed, actually. Simon didn’t seem interested to chat further and just ended the call!
