My husband picked up when a lady rang, she wanted to talk to me. As soon as he said he’d get me, she just hung up the phone!

I picked up the phone only to be greeted by someone fishing for my dad. I told them he was out, and then they launched into a spiel about how our area supposedly has a record number of burglaries-quite the exaggeration, if you ask me! Then they began yammering on about home security. I informed them that we’ve got CCTV, an alarm system, and I’m in regular contact with the local police. The caller then pressed on about some new regulations affecting police responses. I put my foot down and refused to engage any further, making it clear I didn’t want to hear from them again. That number is now blocked.

I've had this number ring me thrice today - first two times they actually uttered a few words (after a tedious silence) claiming to represent some sort of postcode protection firm. The third call was just an irritating hiss, which is quite frustrating! Even though I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list, it seems I'm still being pestered endlessly.

I got a call from some "Protect your postcode campaign" saying that break-ins in my area had increased by 32%. I think they were probably trying to sell me some home security stuff, but I didn’t stick around long enough to find out.

I had an experience with an overly aggressive saleswoman who seemed to be specifically aiming her pitch at senior citizens, trying to book appointments for something they called a 'new emergency response' service. What struck me was that she already had my elderly father's name, even though his number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service. When I inquired about the company's name, she abruptly cut the call. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

Got a call from a really persistent woman trying to sell an emergency alert system. She somehow already knew my dad's last name even though we're on the TPS list. Felt like they were aiming at older folks, talking about dangers like break-ins and personal attacks. She claimed to be from a marketing team working with various businesses but hung up the moment I asked which ones. This isn't the first time my dad has been hassled like this either.

She mentioned a Safety Advisor was supposedly in my neighbourhood right now and wanted to arrange a visit. But when I asked her the company's name two times, she just hung up on me!

Got a call from someone saying they were my safety advisor coming to the area soon and warning about a rise in burglaries around Headington recently. They said they worked for HomeGuard and were selling some kind of alarm system connected to emergency services. The guy gave loads of info and tried pushing a reference number on me, just felt really off and too pushy. I told him I wasn’t interested and ended up hanging up. The only reason I even picked up was because the number showed as an Oxford one!

“Got a call saying 'Our safety advisor will be nearby soon™' so I asked, 'Why are you ringing me? I’m on the TPS list.' They said, 'When did you sign up? You need to renew it every year due to data rules.' Honestly, I don’t buy it and don’t want any more calls from them.”
