Got a call from some bloke abroad who kept asking me to verify my identity but somehow knew my name already. He claimed he was ringing from Green Energy and mentioned I might qualify for a Government grant. I told him I wasn’t the only owner of the house. This isn’t the first time I’ve had this sort of call, so I just ended it. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

Got a call on my mobile while I was up in the Cotswolds, and honestly, it was just total nonsense. I told them I was over in Iceland soaking in a natural hot spring. We're not exactly spring chickens, but we're not fools either. This was just another overseas scam, sounded like they were calling from China.

Got a phone call from a woman with an accent asking if we qualified for some Government green energy help, specifically about loft insulation. Can't tell you how many times we've had those calls - think every home must be half padded by now. But apparently, it’s about whether it's thick enough this time… Boring! She didn't quite take no for an answer, which made me suspicious it was a scam.

The noise in the city feels louder, like the chaos on the riverbanks growing thicker than the river traffic itself. The plains nearby seem duller, and the sun beats down harsher than ever. This isn’t just spam, it’s a scam. People often confuse the two but they’re not the same thing. If you get a scam call, you should report it to the police via their fraud reporting system. Just search ‘action fraud’ on Google and head to the UK police website. Then find the phishing section and scroll right down to report it. Easy peasy.

I started explaining that I’ve just had all the work done on my house, so I’m not interested in any services. But before I could even finish, they cut me off and ended the call.
