6 yearsThese calls are total scams, watch out!8 yearsI picked up, then quickly ended the call.8 yearsMy elderly mum saw a withdrawal of £144.96 from her Nationwide account linked to a firm named Boiler Care UK based in Croydon. Nationwide put the money back while they looked into it. Then, a few weeks on, some bloke rang her on her landline asking why the payment was stopped, saying both her and my late dad had signed some contract. Neither of them had, and as my mum doesn’t live anywhere close to Croydon, she told him it sounded like a scam. He then just hung up. We’re definitely going to report this to the police.Boiler Care UKCroydonNationwide8 yearsGot a call from some boiler insurance people trying to get me to renew a policy but the boiler’s not even under warranty anymore. Weird thing is, I don’t think I’ve ever come across this company before. Just blocked the number straight away.Boiler Care9 yearsMy nan got a call saying it was about renewing her boiler insurance, which she doesn’t even have. They sounded proper convincing and even knew my name and which bank I’m with, apparently. She ended up giving them her card info and the security number. Luckily, she rang me straight away, feeling chuffed she’d sorted the “renewal” on her own. I had to talk her through contacting the bank to stop her card, which is the second time in just a fortnight! She only got the replacement card about three days back too!9 yearsThis guy called from some place called AIG, saying he wanted to chat about shares I supposedly own but don’t anymore. When I started laughing, he got all cranky and rude. Proper dodgy scammers, those lot.AIG9 yearsBlocked the call straight away, pretty sure it was a scam.9 yearsSome bloke rang saying he was from AIG and wanted details about some shares I supposedly owned. When I told him I no longer held any shares, he suddenly wasn’t bothered anymore. Totally a scam, couldn’t even get my name right and had no clue about my current info!AIG9 yearsGot a call from some Irish bloke saying he was with AIG in London, offering advice about Alliance Trust shares. Total scam, they’ve apparently got outdated info on shareholders and ring up trying to convince you to move your shares or investments over to them. They tell you to keep it hush hush. Honestly, the worst kind of scam. If you get a call like this, make sure you report it straight to Alliance Trust and also put in a fraud complaint on their site.AIGLondonAlliance Trust9 yearsGot a call from someone claiming to be in London, talking about shares in a public company - smells like one of those boiler room scams to me.LondonSubmit Your Own Report (01863 769078)
