Following up on what I mentioned on the 12th, I've just got another phone call from that exact "company" again, but this time from the number 01678300014. I've also noticed they ring from 01678300015 too - definitely the same dodgy scam.

Somebody rang saying they were from the Telephone Preference -----. My wife picked up first time and they started asking about setting up direct debit payments, so she just hung up. When it rang again, I took the call, already warned by my missus. The caller kept insisting they were from Telephone Preference ----- (not the actual Service). I told them I was on the Telephone Preference Service and told them to get lost. I checked the number afterwards, but it’s not in service anymore. I’ve blocked it now, definitely a scam or something dodgy.

Got a call from some bloke claiming he was from TPS, sounded like he had an Asian accent and said his name was “Richard”. He kept asking for my full name, address, and postcode, but I wasn’t having any of it. He said he wanted to renew my TPS registration or something like that. I was pretty sure the next step would be him asking for my bank info, so I just told him he was talking nonsense and ended the call. Funny thing is, my husband got a call from someone called “Alex” about 15 minutes before all this happened.

Got a call from 01863 300015, some bloke called "John" claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. He asked for my bank info, which I told him TPS wouldn't need. Then he handed me over to another guy, "David," who tried to get my card details. I told him again that TPS wouldn’t have any of that and to double-check they’re legit by calling the official TPS customer service number - obviously, he just hung up. Well, that was the excitement over for today! :(

Today, this number kept ringing us up six times before I finally blocked it. The initial call was picked up by my husband, and a man with a foreign accent said he was from TPS. He even knew my husband’s name and told him that TPS call blocking was finishing today. My husband thought it sounded like a con and just replied with “Alright” before hanging up. It’s quite unsettling that they had both our phone number and his name. Makes you wonder what other info they might have got hold of.

Honestly, I can imagine how scary this would be for older folks.

Some woman with a thick foreign accent kept confusing me for my wife, even though I sound totally male. She even started calling me Mr followed by my first name! She said she was going to protect me from annoying calls forever or something daft like that. It was quite amusing to hear her go on and on. After a while, I just told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Haven’t heard from her since, thankfully.
