Just got a call from one of those "robots" about half an hour ago. Of course, I didn’t press any buttons or anything, wasn’t planning to. I’m usually quite calm, not the type to get mad quickly. But honestly, these online scammers should be tracked down, caught, and given a real good lesson - maybe tied up by the bits they’ve got (if any exist!). About a couple of weeks back, I got a call like this. I told the woman who answered it straight up that it was a scam and that I’ve never been a BT customer. She just ended the call after that.

If a woman rings up, just tell her straight up “I really don’t care how cheap you’re trying to be, I’m not interested in any of those dirty services you’re pushing.” For a man, be blunt too: “No thanks, I’m not up for f###ing with you now, later or ever.” And if it’s someone with a noticeable accent, say you’re not into those kinds of deals but if they give you their full name and address, you’ll send them a whole crate of bananas instead.

I got a call from 01839278965 claiming to be BT Engineering saying my internet would be disconnected today. It’s the same dodgy scam I’ve been getting off and on for a few months now. Funny thing is, my internet is still running fine. Best thing to do is just ignore and hang up if they ring you.

Got a call from 01839278965 yesterday claiming to be BT, saying our internet would be cut off due to security issues. I was about to go out and brushed them off, but today they rang back again. I switched off my call blocker for a while and ended up getting a call that seemed dodgy. BT checked it out for me and said it was definitely a scam. I've blocked the number now so they shouldn't bother me again.

Whenever I pick up and act like some kind of robot saying, loud and clear, “f*** OFF,” those scam calls always hang up straight away. Another trick I got is having a whistle by my phone, and if a dodgy call comes through, I just blow it right into the handset. You can actually hear the poor scammer squawk in pain, which is pretty satisfying!

I got a call from an 08 number at around 08.37. It was one of those automated messages saying my internet was gonna be cut off today. They then went on about choosing options from some sort of phone menu. I just ended the call straight away and made sure to block them so they couldn't ring me again.

I told her to speak to my husband instead and asked for a contact number to call back, but the line just dropped. The number showed up on 1471 afterwards. Yeah, those scams from Indian or Pakistani numbers are bad news. They never pick up the phone properly. They’ll start off with some crap about your internet or computer, but don’t trust them at all. They’re just trying to hack into your machine, so best to ignore and not let them near your computer.
