Got a call from someone sounding like an Indian scammer. They asked for me by name and then suddenly acted like I wasn’t picking up, as if I was an answering machine or something. Then they just ended the call pretty quick, haha.

Got a call from this number, 01839274108. The bloke on the other end spoke with a thick Indian accent and claimed he was ringing from Talk Talk in London. Said my internet might get disconnected if I didn’t check my settings. He told me to look at my router and count the flashing lights, then asked me to switch on my computer. Next, he wanted to know what key was beside the ctrl button on my keyboard. After that, he asked how many gadgets I had connected. I didn’t give him any info and he just ended the call.

Got a call from some centre claiming they were with BT, said I needed to log into my laptop to fix an issue. I told her I wasn’t having any problems and just ended the call. The lady, sounded Asian, said her name was Anita or something.

Got another call from some dodgy lot pretending to be from BT tech support, this time at about 11:30 on 31/10/2018. Same rubbish spiel like “hello how are you today” and acting all smart. They use fake UK numbers that don’t even exist. If anyone knows an Asian woman named Janice or a bloke called Alex, they’re the con artists behind this. Total scamming muppets. Don’t listen to a word they say, just hang up. These scam calls come through like 8 or 9 times every day - total waste of time. Stay sharp out there!

Got called three times this morning by the same number. Some woman with an Indian accent said she was from TalkTalk and warned me our internet would be disconnected soon. Honestly, it’s a complete scam. Best thing to do is not answer back, just hang up straight away. If you want to check who rang you, press 1471 to get the last number, and if you’re with BT, you can block it by dialling 14258. Don’t get caught out!

Got phoned twice now by someone saying my internet's getting cut off. The first time I just hung up and called BT straight away. They told me it’s definitely a scam and loads of folks had reported it. BT said they blocked the first number, so these scammers must be switching numbers all the time.

I’ve had calls too, a couple of times yesterday, the person sounded Indian and said they were from BT. Also, I’ve been getting these calls that just cut off as soon as I answer. Seems like this is happening a lot lately all over the UK. Best thing is to report it to Ofcom (just search for Abandoned and silent calls). And if you’re on Facebook, remind folks not to trust these calls, especially if you’ve got older family members who might get caught out.

I picked up and it was someone from abroad claiming to be my internet provider. I told them I don’t actually have internet (which isn’t true) and they just hung up on me. I’ve since blocked the number by dialing 1572. Big thanks to the person who shared that you can block the last caller using 1572! :)

I got a call where at first it was dead silent, then I heard some faint noise in the back, and before I could say anything, they just cut off. Honestly, I’d love to track down whoever that was just to give them a piece of my mind.

Saw an unknown number ring me, so I didn’t say anything and just let it go to silence. After a bit the person on the other end just ended the call. If it was something important, surely they would have talked. Anyway, I’ve blocked that number now.

Got a call from this number today just as I was having a shower, what are the chances? Haha. Didn’t leave any voicemail or anything, so I’m guessing it’s one of those scammers who spoof numbers like it’s nothing. Really makes me think I should get a phone that’s better at blocking these dodgy calls.

Woke up to loads of calls from someone called Alex claiming to be from BT. Got three calls, but my old phone upstairs didn’t show who was ringing, so I picked up the second one. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

My phone buzzed from 01839274108 a few minutes back, but I chose not to pick up, and thankfully it just stopped ringing. Later, I looked up the number and saw that others had gotten calls from it too. Really happy I didn't bother answering this one.

On 31st Oct 2018, around 8:30 in the morning, I got a call from someone pretending to be from BT’s tech support, saying my internet was hacked or something. I asked for my account number, and of course, they had no idea! Ended the call straight away. Watch out, these are dodgy scammers. The number they used was some fake UK one like 1572, but it’s a spoof - they just clone loads of numbers all day long. I usually get about 6 to 8 of these calls between 8am and 4pm every day. Total waste of time!

I just got a call from this number but it suddenly cut off before I had a chance to say anything. Lately, I've been getting loads of calls from various numbers, and the callers always sound like they're from some Indian call centre shouting about BT. Really strange.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent, saying he was from TalkTalk and that there was a problem with my router. Pretty obvious scam, but I was bored so I played along for a bit. He started rambling about my router being hacked and wanted me to boot up my PC. Lost interest when he asked what OS I had and I told him LINUX, and mentioned I don’t do online banking. He then came up with some excuse about fixing the router and said he’d call back in 15 minutes, but never did. At least I annoyed him and wasted around 20 minutes of his time.

This number called my mum earlier. She's pretty cautious by nature and I've been trying to warn her about fraudsters and their tricks. So her usual response was something like, "My son handles all that stuff for me." Bet it drives those dodgy callers mad!

Got a robo call claiming it was BT telling me my internet was going to be cut off today. They made me press 1 or 2 for more info, but since I’m not even a BT customer, I guessed it was dodgy and hung up straight away. The call ended on their side after that.

Got a call very early, around 8:40am, from an automated voice claiming it was BT. They said my broadband would be disconnected today unless I acted. The message told me to press 1 to talk to BT or 2 to cancel the broadband. When I didn’t press anything, the call just ended abruptly. Definitely a scam, don’t press any buttons!

I wouldn’t bother picking up a landline, it’s always the same lot of scammers. Unless you’re up for wasting their time, I’ve done it a few times and they just give up eventually. Pretend you don’t understand and they get pretty irritated, haha.

Got a call at about 11:20 in the morning from someone saying he was David Wallis from BT, but honestly he sounded very much like he wasn’t. We told him straight we don’t have BT, and he asked who our provider was. I just said none of your concern. Then he goes off on a rant about how it’s his business and accused us of lying, insisting we’re with BT. We ended the call there. Pure scam! Why can’t phone companies step in and sort this out? These calls happen nearly every day - who even gets fooled by this nonsense?

31/10/2018 08:36 AM - I typed in the number below and just ended the call straight away. Then, annoyingly, the same number rang back again. The caller claimed to be Alex from BT’s tech support, same old nonsense, so I just hung up again. This number’s definitely dodgy, watch out for these pushy scammers from India. Under no circumstances should you let them on your computer. Also, I’ve never met anyone Indian named Alex, so pretty sure it’s a made-up name. This was actually my second scam call from these pests within five minutes! What a pain.
