Increasing Number of Scams Linked to 01838440004

The phone number 01838440004 has been causing a stir for some time now, with a growing number of complaints pouring in from individuals who claim they have been targeted by scammers. Many users report receiving calls from this number where they speak to individuals purporting to be from well-known companies, especially Sky. The consistent nature of these calls has left many feeling frustrated and wary.

The Pattern of Calls

A significant amount of feedback from callers suggests a common theme: unsolicited calls regarding television, insurance renewals, and non-existent services. One report, dated March 4, 2023, revealed a caller who simply hung up when questioned about the origin of the call. This lack of transparency has left many users feeling suspicious. "Didn’t answer and blocked as it is clearly a scam," one user remarked, encapsulating the feelings of many.

In fact, one individual mentioned being coerced into revealing personal information during a call, which they promptly deemed a “dangerous” encounter. Users frequently note general personal questions being asked before the caller abruptly ends the conversation when challenged, suggesting that these calls follow a scripted format designed to exploit unsuspecting victims.

Distinctive Accents and Locations

Several accounts mention the accents of callers, with many noting that they have communicated with individuals speaking in heavy Indian or West Indian accents. One user recounted a peculiar experience with a “gentleman with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from Sky.” Given that another user distinctly mentioned, “sadly for him I don’t actually have Sky,” it appears callers often target unsuspecting individuals to renew non-existent contracts.

Further highlighting the absurdity of this situation, a user pointed out the irony in a caller claiming he was from Sky while apparently calling from "the depths of Scotland." This has led many to conclude that the attempts at deception are poorly executed, raising questions about the credibility of these calls. “If you are going to spoof a number, at least make it a reasonable location," another commenter suggested.

Urging Caution and Blocking Numbers

A considerable number of users have taken preemptive measures by blocking the number altogether. One user admitted to ignoring strange numbers after reading a slew of negative experiences, solidifying their decision to turn a blind eye to future communications from this number. "Who has ever heard of Daimally in Scotland anyway?" they joked, indicating the absurdity of the situation.

Many users have also appealed to others to exercise caution. A consistent message emerges from the reports: avoid engaging with individuals who call from this number. “Scam, scam, scam, scam. Do not engage with these fraudsters!” echoed across various comments. Users express relief in sharing their experiences, aiming to ensure that others are forewarned about potential scams.

Frustration and Distrust

Community response has also emerged from those feeling exasperated by repeated calls they received, often from the same number asking them to speak about issues or claims that never existed. “I’ve just had a call from this number too; seems they’ve got our numbers from some sort of database,” one individual claimed, highlighting a collective sentiment of distrust towards unsolicited calls.

The irritation escalates further when users mention that they have already blocked the number but continue to receive calls. One user built upon this frustration, saying, "I have better things to do," when pressed for time during a call. This ongoing obstruction of peace has led to broader discussions surrounding the necessity for more stringent measures to combat phone scammers.

Conclusion

In light of the overwhelming evidence from those who have encountered the number 01838440004, there is a clear call for vigilance. It serves as a stark reminder of the clever tactics that scammers employ to deceive unsuspecting individuals.

The words echo in the community: trust your gut, safeguard your personal information, and never hesitate to report suspicious activity. For now, the number remains shrouded in suspicion, as more individuals become aware and equipped to handle potential scams. With an eroding trust in unsolicited calls, it might be time to embrace the notion that if you do not recognise the number, it is best to let it ring.

I received a call from this number, but they didn’t bother to respond when I picked up. Naturally, I’ve added them to my block list since it’s obvious they’re up to no good.

Received a call earlier that felt rather intrusive with all the personal inquiries. Ended up hanging up on them.

I received a call from a lady who claimed she wasn't trying to sell me anything; she merely needed twenty seconds of my attention. Naturally, I inquired about how she obtained my number and the purpose of her call, but before I could get any answers, she abruptly ended the call. Quite peculiar, if you ask me!

I waited ages for someone to answer, and when I finally did get through, it was a chap with a thick accent that wasn’t quite English. He claimed to be from a company called UK Now, but I’d never heard of them before. At that point, I decided it was best to just hang up and promptly blocked the number.

I received a call from a chap with a strong Indian accent claiming to represent Sky regarding my insurance renewal. The irony is, I don’t even subscribe to Sky! An Asian fella ringing from a number pinpointed in the remote Scottish Highlands? Quite the absurdity, if you ask me. It honestly felt like a rather shabby scam effort. If you’re going to pull something like this, at least try to choose a number that doesn't raise eyebrows! I’d advise being cautious with this number.

I received a call from a chap with a strong Indian accent, claiming he was from Sky, trying to discuss my insurance renewal. Quite amusing, considering I’m not even a Sky customer! It seems the fella, presumably of Asian descent, was ringing me from somewhere rather remote in Scotland. Honestly? What a farcical attempt at scamming! If you're going to try to con someone, at least make an effort to use a more credible phone number. I’d definitely recommend being cautious with this number; it feels dodgy.

I received a call from an Asian lady insisting that my Sky subscription was about to expire. The catch? I don't even have a TV package! I couldn't help but mention that it might be wise for her to look into some legitimate employment instead of scamming people. To my surprise, she responded rather rudely! Quite the delightful conversation, wouldn't you say?

Received a call and it had a distinctly Caribbean lilt to it. The line was regarding Sky, but I have no connection with that outfit whatsoever. I've also got my number on the TPS list and my past partner is an ex. I gave him a firm piece of my mind about his unsolicited call!

Just wanted to chime in with what others have said before. I received a call from a bloke with an Asian accent who was keen to discuss renewing my SKY and TV insurance—or so he said. The thing is, I don’t actually have either of those! Quite the puzzler, isn't it?

Had an odd call earlier today—there was complete silence at first, then out of nowhere, I heard a robotic female voice just say 'Goodbye' and hang up. Quite peculiar!

I'm convinced this caller was nothing but a scam artist. They pretended to be from my Sky service provider, insisting that my contract was nearing its end and needed renewal. Given that I’ve been a Sky customer for yonks, I decided to ring them up directly. To my relief, they assured me that it wasn’t them reaching out through that dodgy number! With only three months remaining on my contract, I nearly fell for their trickery. It's a close call!

I received a call from a lady claiming that my Sky equipment was up for renewal, and she wanted to know which package I'd prefer. As she rambled on, I eventually interrupted to let her know that I don't even have Sky. Clearly, someone’s not being truthful here, so I hung up the phone.

I keep getting all these calls from this number, supposedly wanting to discuss ‘the accident I was involved in earlier this year.’ The thing is, I haven’t had any accidents or filed any claims, so I’m rather puzzled about how they even obtained my number. I'm on the Telephone Preference Service list, so it’s quite frustrating. Looks like I'll have to take steps to block this number.

I received a call from an Asian lady who said she was representing SKY Maintenance. She mentioned that the cover on our television was outdated and required replacement. I firmly told her to find a legitimate job and that she ought to be embarrassed for making such calls. Then, she promptly disconnected the line. I can't quite understand why!

This morning, on the 19th of April, I received a call from this number. The chap on the other end had an Asian accent and claimed he was from Sky. He was trying to convince me that I needed to renew my contract for accidental damage cover on my television and other equipment. He stated they had sent me a letter back in February, which I apparently hadn't responded to. However, I don't recall seeing any such correspondence. When I asked him for my address, he admitted he didn’t have it and that only the records department would know. He pressed on about renewing the contract and presented me with two options, mentioning that if I chose to cancel, there would be an immediate cancellation fee of £79. He also claimed to already possess my debit card information and inquired if I'd changed my card in the past three years. This raised my suspicions, as I don't remember entering into any contract with Sky. I suggested he send me the details in writing so I could have a proper look at the contract, but he was rather pushy and wanted me to make a decision on the spot. In the end, I thanked him and hung up while he was still trying to keep the conversation going.
