An Asian lady rang my 88-year-old nan, saying she was from the HMRC and that nan owed a whopping £1900 for taxes she didn’t pay from ages 1971 to 2001. This woman, calling herself Rebecca (which I found funny), was super pushy, threatening that if my nan didn’t cough up, they’d issue an arrest warrant. She even threw around some case file and warrant numbers to make it sound legit. Then she tried to get my gran to pay half straight away. After my nan ended the call, the same caller rang back, calling her stubborn and threatening arrest again. Proper nasty scam attempt.
