So they say their name is Weatherproofing UK Ltd, rang me but as soon as i picked up they just went and hung up on me like it was nothing. Tried phoning them back and all i got was an automated message telling me who they were and that they’d ring me again, then it just cut off. Definitely wouldn’t trust them at all.

Woman on the phone claimed it wasnt a cold call, said she knew my name and address, and that they were doing damp proofing on every house in my road (even though we havent seen any work happening nearby). She asked if I wanted to take part. I said no thanks, and she said it was an important call. I told her I dont do cold calls and ended the call. This was the second time this number has called me, and it seems like a scam. Could be risky for older folks or anyone not on their guard.

My wife answered but the bloke totally messed up our surname, then said 'sorry sweetheart' in a really sneering tone when she corrected him. He tried to pitch a free damp inspection for our house. My wife told him to shove off, but he then asked to speak to me to check again. She hung up while he was still chatting. This number’s phoned us quite a few times. Got a call about some dump proofing checks happening nearby the next day. Some daft relative blabbed and said we were all out at work, so no one’d be around. The next day, a black car pulled up outside our house, just staring inside the windows. It bolted off quick when they noticed someone was home and watching them. Wish I’d caught the number plate to report to the cops. Just watch out, folks.

It's rather infuriating, isn't it? I was under the impression that a recent regulation was intended to put an end to these incessant phone sales nuisances, yet they seem to be on the rise! We're bombarded with calls from these tricksters at least five times daily, and the baffling part is, we haven't made our number public nor have we shared it on any forms. The only entity aware of our number is BT, seeing as they only assigned it to us a few months back. One can't help but ponder whether BT is profiting by selling our details!
