I hung up pretty sharpish - he’d probably have asked for personal info, bank details, or stuff about my actual boiler, but the call didn’t last long enough for me to give him any of that. Definitely felt dodgy to me. Wouldn't trust ‘em, that's for sure.

Got a ring on my landline today, a number that’s basically unused and listed with TPS, so dunno how they even found me. It sounded like some deal offering free boilers for folks on benefits. The bloke on the phone was Asian and I couldn’t follow most of what he was saying. If more people reported these con artists to the ICO, maybe they’d be caught and punished proper.

Every scam call, text, or email you get needs to be reported to the police through Action Fraud’s phishing report page. Just follow the steps online. The police can only get a clear picture of how big this organised scam problem really is if everyone reports these attempts.

I just got a call from an automated system using this number. When I said my name, the robot told me to "hang up" and then cut me off. As the TPS says, "It’s against the law for any organisation (including charities, volunteer groups and political parties) to call numbers registered with the TPS unless they’ve got your permission."
