Consumer Energy Solutions over in Swanage got the home and mobile number of this old retired bloke who lost his wife. Seems they have done some genuine work now and then, but couldn’t really show any proper accreditation for fitting solar panels. They weren’t happy when turned down and ended up phoning back loads of times on both numbers, getting pretty rude as well. Would steer clear of them!

Got a call from someone with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from VISA. He spoke really broken English and said he needed my card details and recent transactions to verify my account. It was obvious he was reading from a script cause he kept repeating the same lines and refused to answer my tricky questions. I told him straight up he was a scammer, and he just hung up on me.

I used to be with this company and didn’t leave on the best terms, but I can tell you this grant is legit - you can check it out on your local council’s site. The ECO 3 funding is proper too, it’s detailed on the OFGEM website along with how it operates. Sure, their calls can be a bit annoying, but if you’re eligible, the funding could actually do you some good.

The firm is named Consumer Energy Solutions. They rang me a few times some months back, so I got in touch and asked them to delete my info from their records since I never asked for any info from them at all. They were cold calling, and since I'm on the TPS list, they are definitely breaking the rules. What annoys me more is that they used my old directory number and had my personal info, and even worse, they couldn’t properly explain how they got hold of those details!

An older gent called, asking for an elderly sick person by name, saying he was from the local council. He started asking quite personal questions which made me uncomfortable. When I pressed him about who he actually worked for, he stopped mentioning the council and just said something about an energy company, maybe something to do with heating systems. I told him to send the info by post instead. He sounded annoyed. I wouldn’t trust these types; feels like they’re preying on older or vulnerable folks.

Got a call from Jamie at Consumer Energy Solutions about some government grant in Devon for getting your gas boiler replaced. My boiler is under five years old so I didn’t meet the criteria. I took a look at their website and it seems quite legitimate, but I’m still a bit wary since grants like this are normally handled by local councils. For instance, a few years back I had insulation done free thanks to the Energy Saving Scheme through Devon County Council.

Started off as a really nice chat with a Welsh lady who claimed she'd dialled the wrong number by accident. Out of the blue, she tried to pitch some heating-related product, caught me totally off guard! Never had such a dodgy, underhand, sneaky cold call before! I immediately said, "If you're just trying to sell me something, why bother with all this rubbish?" She then got aggressive and started insulting me, so I just ended the call. Proper frustrating. Got a guy with an English accent, probably in his 20s or early 30s, telling me we only have electric heating so we qualify for some government grants to swap out our storage heaters. Got a call this morning from 01792721140. The number shows up on BT 1471 but isn’t on BT 1572, so it can’t be blocked later on. How does that make any sense? The caller was a Welsh woman, really patronising, and she already knew our address and that we use oil for heating. She said she was from some govt fuel scheme and asked very intrusive stuff about who lives here and if we’re on benefits. Who actually sends these people out and what’s the real purpose here?

Said they were part of a government grant programme for upgrading home boilers. Seems dodgy to me since our council already ran a few schemes like this, and every company involved came round in person with IDs and paperwork showing council contact details to verify. Why would I trust a call from someone over 50 miles away who has no clue the council wrapped all this up months ago? Blocked the number straight away.

I’m based in Powys, just near the Ceredigion edge. This number rang me today and I answered but stayed quiet. A bloke with what sounded like a South Wales, maybe Swansea, accent asked for ‘Mrs Evans’. I just ended the call without replying. I’ve never come across a ‘Mrs Evans’ before, and even if I had said something, he’d have worked out I’m a guy. Surely just one of those cold call centres in Swansea. The number’s got a Swansea code, and there’s loads of those places there anyway.

Got a call from someone saying they were from an energy firm offering a boiler grant, told him this was a business line and we don’t have any boilers, but he kept pushing. Ended up blocking the number. The guy sounded Welsh.

So consumer energy called me, saying they’d rung me loads of times already. Then the bloke tells me they’ve never phoned me before. I just told him “well, I couldn’t care less,” and he goes “oh, that’s nice,” before I ended the call. Quite the odd convo!

Got a cold call about some "government grant" for energy stuff, and the bloke just talked right over me with a thick Welsh accent. I told him I’d just look up boiler grants myself online, but he just kept going on non-stop, so I ended up hanging up on him. Proper annoying. If he rings again, I’m definitely reporting it to the ICO.

So this person kept calling about an old property i left ages ago. When i tried to explain i’d moved, he just talked over me the entire time, really pushy and rude. I asked where he got my info from and he still wouldn’t let me get a word in. Told him the details were from May 25 2017 and that his company might be breaking GDPR rules and could get fined up to 4% of their income. Had to just hang up at the end because he wouldn’t stop interrupting me.

Got a missed call and called back. They instantly knew who I was and my address, which freaked me out. Asked how they got all that info. They said from the national grid or something. Kept pressing me about how I heat my place. They seemed to think I don’t have central heating at all. When I asked who they were, they said Consumer Energy. Couldn't find anything about them on the internet. Felt a bit dodgy to be honest.

Got a really rude bloke on the phone asking for someone who aint even at this address. Then he started trying to sell me stuff. I told him we're on the TPS and asked him to take us off his list but he just got more pushy and kept pushing his sales pitch.

Hey folks, I've realised that most of these scam calls just want you to answer the phone. Ever noticed how the same number calls about random stuff or just hangs up? They’re really just after a live line. If you pick up, your number ends up on a list they can trade around. I have a mate who used to work in this field and told me all about it. Best advice is don’t pick up calls from numbers you don’t know. If it’s something urgent, they’ll normally leave a voicemail anyway.

Keep reporting, keep reporting. The TPS is controlled by the ICO these days but they only look into things after you make around 200 complaints. Afterwards, the company just gets some "guidance" on following the rules. Then there’s roughly 6 months of "monitoring" to check if they’re sticking to it. Most times the company goes under during this period and then pops up again with a nearly identical name.

Got a call from someone asking for a "Mr Green." Told them that there's nobody by that name at my place. Then they started talking about some energy savings. Totally sounds like one of those dodgy cold calls. I just ended the call and put the number on block.

Got a call from some bloke in Wales asking if I qualified for free heating. I told him he’d need to speak to the management firm about it. Haven’t had any follow-up from them though. Bit odd, really!

Got a random call out of the blue on my ex-directory number, despite it being on the TPS list. It was some energy company trying their luck. I told them straight away I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Then, within a couple of minutes, they rang me again but this time from a mobile number. Hung up right away and blocked that one as well. Seems like they haven't quite got the memo about "not interested".

Got a call from Energy Solutions the other day. I calmly mentioned my number is on the TPS register and asked them to stop calling. Instead of listening, the guy launched into some lecture about government grants. I firmly said if they didn’t stop calling, I’d block them. He didn’t seem to care, kept talking over me. So in the end, I just told him I was blocking the number and hung up.

I got a call from some people trying to pitch cheaper energy plans. They noticed that my place isn’t connected to gas and then started pushing their product. But the moment I mentioned that my house was fairly new, they just hung up. Complete waste of time!
