Got a call super early around 6:50 am from a bloke claiming he was with Windows. I didn’t mess about and told him to do one!

I received a call from the number 01784279719 on the 24th of August, 2017. An individual with an Asian accent was eager to discuss my "Windows" computer. Feeling a bit mischievous, I asked him which version he was referring to. As an old-school techie, I've got everything from Windows 3.1 all the way up to Windows 10-not that I mentioned that to him! He replied, "the one that uses the Windows operating system". It was clear he was only trying to dig for some personal details! So, I just told him he clearly didn’t know what he was on about and cut the call. He promptly rang me back, questioning why I had hung up! Seriously, can you believe that? Then he had the audacity to say that if I didn’t engage with him, my computer would be rendered unusable. My comeback? “Yeah, right, you’re chatting nonsense.” He quickly grew irate, became quite rude, and threw a fit every time I called his statements "nonsense" before hanging up yet again! Quite amusing, really. It struck me as odd that throughout our chat, he never once mentioned Microsoft!

A bloke with an Asian accent called saying he was from Microsoft. I decided to mess about a bit and when he asked me to note down a reference code, I just let him rattle off loads of digits and letters. Before I could tell him off properly (not very nicely), he ended the call. These calls are getting ridiculous, and the fact that the number shows up makes it worse. Someone really ought to sort this out.

I got a call from 01784279719 on 24th August 2017. An Asian chap on the line claimed to discuss my “Windows” computer. Just for a laugh, I asked him which version he meant. You see, I'm a bit of a tech buff and have everything from Windows 3.1 to 10, but I kept that bit to myself! He responded with “the one using the Windows operating system.” Clearly trying to pry for details! So, I told him he hadn’t a clue what he was on about and ended the call. Lo and behold, he rang me back asking why I'd hung up! Can you believe it? Then he threatened that my computer would be disabled if I didn’t have a natter with him. I just laughed and replied, “Oh come on, that's nonsense!” He got quite cross, becoming rude and flustered as I dismissed everything he said as “nonsense.” In the end, I hung up on him again-what a laugh! Curiously, he never once mentioned Microsoft. How bizarre!

BT took care of blocking this number on my behalf, I didn't even have to do it myself. Guess that shows even BT recognises the problem.

What an utterly unacceptable manner of communication! I'm really at a loss as to why he decided to make that phone call. One can only wish that the authorities take action soon, as there are vulnerable elderly individuals who could easily be exploited in such situations.

Had some dodgy lot ringing me, so I blasted my referee’s whistle - got it near the phone just for these kind of thieving muppets. Worked like a charm, three sharp blasts and they legged it!

Some guy with an Asian accent said he was with Microsoft. I told him if he phoned me again, I’d report him. He just laughed and asked how many times I planned to do that. Then I just hung up. Totally dodgy scammer trying to take advantage of people. Best stay clear.

Claiming to be from Microsoft, this one certainly smells fishy - undoubtedly a scam! The chap on the other end had a charming way of speaking, which makes me think he’s raking it in by duping Windows users out of their hard-earned cash. It’s all too easy to fall for it, considering nearly everyone with a Windows machine has encountered their fair share of issues. Honestly, I’m relieved to be using a Mac - there’s a certain peace of mind that comes with it!

On the 22nd of August 2017, around 2:16 pm, I got a call from an Asian guy asking about my home computer. I told him I don't even have one, so I asked how he knew about it. Without a word, he just hung up on me. I wonder if any official dept keeps an eye on these sorts of calls once the number's found out? It can't be that difficult to track where they come from. These people are obviously trying to scam us.

Received a call purporting to be from Microsoft, alleging that my computer had been compromised. When I inquired about which of my two computers they were referring to, the caller promptly disconnected. Does anyone know how to stop these persistent calls? The preference service has proven ineffective. Since this is a UK number, I trust the authorities might take action against such deceptive marketing practices.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Microsoft earlier. When I told them I’d just log in myself and that Microsoft always emails if there’s an issue, they instantly hung up. They wanted to give me a number for their ‘tech support’ to help fix my computer troubles! Watch out for this, it’s definitely dodgy!

Some bloke called saying he was from Microsoft, though his thick Asian accent made me doubt it. He claimed there was an issue with my computer, so I asked him which of my three machines he meant. We ended up going back and forth about Windows versions and Wannacry stuff. I lost interest pretty quick and just ended the call. He was clearly trying to get me to log into one of my supposed PCs - total scam.
