I received a rather alarming call that started off with a recorded voice declaring, “This call is being forwarded from BT.” It then proceeded to inform me that my internet service was on the brink of being cut off. I was given the option to press 1 to chat with someone or 2 to proceed with the disconnection. Having encountered this precise recording multiple times before, I quickly recognised it as a scam, so I chose not to engage with any prompts. Predictably, the scammers hung up after about ten seconds.
