Some bloke rang me and asked for me by my full name. I didn’t say who I was, just asked who was calling. He said he was David from Fresh Contacts. I stayed quiet after that. Then he said, “Your number’s on our list, and it’s active. I’m calling about some damage you supposedly reported on your car.” I replied that I hadn’t reported any damage and told him to take my number off their list. Then I hung up. I highly doubt he actually removed it, but he’s definitely blocked on my phone now!

When I probed a bit about who they were, he claimed that my information had been passed onto them because I had supposedly been involved in a recent car accident. I pretended to be taken aback and asked him for further clarification, which of course he provided without much hassle. Then, in a rather desperate turn of events, he inquired if anyone else in my home might have had an accident. I responded that I couldn’t recall anyone having such misfortune and suggested that there might have been a mix-up with the information he had. He conceded, admitting they occasionally received erroneous data (more like, they always do), and assured me he would promptly take my information off their list. I’ve now ensured that number is firmly on my blocked contacts list.
