This prompted us to call back and file a complaint, during which we were assured by a manager that they would investigate the matter further.

I’ve just discovered that this is IQOR Debt Recovery based in Preston. They’ve been hounding us over a supposed debt of £465 owed to E.ON, which they claim has been handed over for collection. The absurdity of it all is that we’ve received absolutely no notification whatsoever regarding this matter. To top it off, they’ve gone and insisted that we haven’t made a single payment to E.ON in the last two years, which is simply untrue!

Over the last two weeks they've rung my old phone loads, also using 01772220504. They go by Akinika or iQor debt collectors. I picked up once and they were really rude and threatening, asking for someone I don’t know. I’ve been at this address for 15 years. They asked for my postcode but I didn’t give it. They said they’re sending letters and I need to respond straight away. Never received any letters, yet still keep calling. They claim to have clients like HBOS, Halifax and Bank of Scotland. I don’t owe any debt, wrong name altogether. Feels like they’re trying to scam or fish for info!

This is definitely a fraud. Paypal always contacts you directly if there’s a payment issue or debt. They won’t threaten you like this. Just end the call right away and don’t share any info. Once you do, you basically allow them to keep phoning you. Stay safe!
