After explaining, she kept pushing the offer so I had no option but to end the call. I’ve had similar calls about this Irish Lotto from other numbers before, all of which I've since blocked.

Had no clue who called since I normally just pick up if I know the number. I check sites like this to find if others got calls from the same digits (there’s like over 14,000 reports). This one’s definitely getting blocked now. Honestly, my blocked list is way bigger than my contacts these days.

Got a call today 09/01/20 at 13:59 from 01772428020 saying it was the lottery. But after checking the comments here, sounds like it’s a company or person pretending to be different firms, not the genuine ones. We’re now reporting this to BT, Ofcom, the police, and the lottery folks.

I use an answerphone that shows who’s calling, if I don’t know the number I just let it ring out to see if a message gets left. If it’s important the caller will leave a message, if not they hang up and lose their cash! Someone mentioned “Easylife,” and I found out a while back they sell people’s info to other companies to make extra money. They’re not a trustworthy firm, best to avoid them. Plus, the stuff they sell isn’t great quality and once you add delivery fees, you’re better off buying it somewhere else.

Seems like it’s some kinda lottery scam where your details get shared around by other firms, often a shopping channel. Some reckon it’s Cotton Traders or Chums behind it. I’m pretty sure it’s Cotton Traders this time, had trouble with Chums before but in a different way, plus Easylife as well. Have blocked the number now.

Someone rang me saying they were from the Irish Lottery, but they called me by my previous name, one I stopped using back in November. I didn’t correct them with my current name. They went on about giving me some kind of special offer linked to a survey they said I had done recently.
