Got a call from someone saying they were from a loft insulation company wanting to do a free check. Didn't say their name, just followed up on an earlier call from an Asian woman. Felt a bit dodgy to me, so after I hung up, I went ahead and blocked both numbers. Definitely seemed like a scam.

I’m on the TPS list yet still getting blasted with robocalls. Over the past week, I’ve had three calls from these automated bots named Chris and Simon pushing roof insulation. They claim a “government agency” report says my roof’s loft insulation might cause serious damp - things like Rockwool or blanket glass fibre apparently. They said they’ve helped plenty of folks around here already. Then they asked if I’m a homeowner or over a certain age - something like between 50 and 80. Curious, I searched the number online and found loads of reports saying it’s a known cold-calling scam designed to hook people into paying for surveys. The so-called “surveyors” will come out, charge £75 for an inspection - but they say it’s free if you act now. By the third call, I just decided to see what I could get from them without giving away any info, trying to figure out who they’re really working for or selling my info to. Seems like that’s actually illegal these days. Sure enough, not long after, a number starting 01752 rang me. On the other end was a very pushy person from a local firm that sprays insulation but also sells and fits solar panels. They were going on about how they now do “Solar Energy, Batteries, and Electric Car Charging Stations” and have started using some product called ProPerla. Apparently, they’re always chasing the latest green tech to help you save money and live better. Honestly, they seem like opportunists, just jumping on whatever’s trendy right now, willing to fleece anyone who doesn’t know better.

It seemed like one of those dodgy scam calls, so I just ignored it instead of answering to arrange a time for a quote visit.

Someone rang me up claiming my loft insulation was out of date and asked for my name. I wasn’t having any of it and refused to say. They want to call again to arrange a time to come and check and give me a quote for updating it. No chance I’m letting them back in!

I got a phone call about getting insulation done, and they said a nearby tradesman would get in touch within half an hour. Two hours passed and my wife answered a call, but it definitely wasn’t anyone from round here. The person on the phone then asked me to spell out my last name, which was when I twigged it was just a cold call.

I keep getting calls from a loft insulation firm based in Plymouth. They actually obtain my phone number via a cold-calling outfit over in the Philippines called Filitastica. Since Filitastica operates abroad, they dodge the UK’s no cold-calling rules. So the Plymouth company is exploiting this gap to snag your info. They’ll send someone over for what they call a ‘free loft survey’, but really it’s just a cover to push their insulation stuff aggressively.

Got a call from some loft insulation folks, they must've grabbed my number from a cold caller. Funny thing is, this spot’s only like a 10-minute drive from me.

Got a call from some company claiming my home’s insulation isn’t good enough. Looks like a complete rip-off to me.

Got a call from someone claiming to offer loft insulation under a government scheme. They used a fake name and kept insisting I was eligible, trying to get loads of personal info out of me. They were really pushy about scheduling a home survey. Best thing to do is just hang up straight away when they ring.
