Here’s what I usually do: if I get a call from a number I don’t know, like this one, I just answer with ‘hello’ and don’t give my name. Most times, they ask for someone like Dave or Sean or some other name I’ve never heard of. I just say it’s the wrong number and that’s that - they have no more to say and the call ends fast. Then I block the number straight away!

Called the number back and it was some sort of pension review place. They rang me before from another number. They say they’re from the company that holds your pension and warn you need a check up on it. I get regular pension statements and told them to stop bothering me. Pretty obvious they’re just switching numbers to keep ringing.

This call made me really nervous. The person asked if I was someone else, and I can’t quite recall if I said yes. This bloke rang me up claiming he could assist with freeing up my pensions. I asked which pensions he meant and he just replied, "If you tell me, I can sort it out for you." I told him I’m not old enough for my state pension yet and to give me a buzz in 30 years. Absolute muppet!!

Just got another call and I immediately hung up - clearly one of those unwanted numbers that seem to be multiplying all the time. I reckon these reverse phone lookup sites are brilliant because they save us having to deal with these annoying callers. They’re like robots, programmed to keep jabbering and never take no for an answer. It’s really frustrating. Surely the law should do something about this, yeah? There’s always talk about new rules but nothing ever actually changes. Ever notice how many of these calls seem to come from legal firms? Given how many politicians are from the legal world, it’s no wonder they never make laws to stop it - wouldn’t want to bite the hand that feeds them.

I got a missed call and decided to call back. Ended up talking to a lovely young woman named Lauren who said they were from Nuffield Wellbeing Gym. I told her I’m already with another gym, and she was like, alright no worries, sorry to bother me. Funny enough, I just signed up at a gym last week and had been searching for gyms nearby on Google, so maybe Google’s algorithms tipped them off about me?

I let this number ring a couple times before but just now I actually answered. They said something really quiet and unclear then just got off. They’ve called me like 5 times in total, a few I ignored but tried calling back like others said and it just refuses the call.
