Got an email from this scam today and was really worried at first coz my son had been using my kindle playing games - even though I’d locked down everything I could. I checked on my phone and saw the account needed verifying, so I stopped right away. Just got back from work and saw it was a total scam, checked my PayPal and all clear! Keep your eyes open, when you’re knackered it’s easy to fall for stuff!

Got an email saying £50 was taken from my account. At first, I thought someone had hacked me since I’ve been using paypal a lot for christmas shopping. I double checked my paypal transactions just in case it was a phishing attempt. What gave it away as a scam? The email looked pretty real but, when compared to a real paypal receipt, you can spot the differences straight away. Also, it was sent to my email address instead of my name, which seemed a bit dodgy.

Still, I’m sorting it out with PayPal because this kind of thing is just not on. Seeing that when you first check your phone in the morning is the worst! I just received the same email about £50.00 for some Dragonballs game credit. I sent it on to [email protected]. At first, I went straight to Paypal by typing the address in myself (not clicking any links) and couldn’t find the charge anywhere. I’ve recently come across an email from Dan Locke at 17 Redmires Lane, Sheffield, S10 4JZ, notifying me of a $40 USD transaction related to Dragon Balls Game Credit. Strangely, there were no shipping details or any guidance for the merchant included. The message indicated that no money had been transferred thus far, but they would release the funds once the merchant finalised the payment. I appreciate you sharing your experiences; it’s really helpful. The Invoice ID was 16279017. I’ll keep an eye on my accounts moving forward.

I appreciate everyone for sharing their insights on this matter. I'm currently situated in the U.S. and have also received an identical email, merely differing in that the shipping address points to Texas. It's immensely reassuring to see your experiences posted, as this was the sole source of information I could find on the issue. I was able to promptly forward the email to PayPal without any further complications. As someone mentioned earlier, it’s best to refrain from clicking any links within the email and instead get in touch with PayPal directly. After all, it's not just their name being misused here; yours is at stake too.

I received a similar email myself. I took the precaution of forwarding it to PayPal and accessed my account directly through their official website rather than clicking any links in the email. I got this email as well and it seemed fishy since I hadn’t made any payment of £35.85. Instead of clicking any links from the email, I logged into my PayPal account directly through their website. The email said the phone number was from Sheffield, but when I looked it up, it was actually from Shrewsbury, which raised more red flags. I rang PayPal to report it and they told me it was definitely a scam. I had just changed my password recently, and I got legit emails from PayPal for the password change and confirmation, so I knew those were genuine.

Beware of a dodgy scheme where they’ll prompt you to sign in to PayPal, fishing for your account info under the guise of processing a refund.

I received an email regarding a recent purchase, but it lacked any specific details. The message seems to be from BRAKES GROUP in Sheffield. The name mentioned was Dan Locke, residing at 17 Redmires Lane. Quite confusing, I must say!

I recently noticed a charge of £35 from a company called Brakes Group on a PayPal order, which I definitely did not authorise. Upon digging into my PayPal account, there’s no sign of this transaction whatsoever. The details listed were: [email protected] and the phone number 01743362202. Quite concerning, to say the least!

01743362202 sent me an email invoice, but I've decided to shut down my PayPal account. Not too long ago, some muppet from the US managed to rip off my bank through PayPal. I've also passed the email on to the police, Action Fraud, and PayPal themselves. Fingers crossed this daft kid gets told off properly for trying to con people.

Heads up! Got this dodgy message today (17/09/2015): "You've placed an order for £35.85 GBP with Brakes Group. Cheers for using PayPal. Remember, this isn't a payment yet. Your account won't be billed till the seller handles your payment. You might get a few emails as the order gets processed." Looks fishy to me!

Got this email too, just like loads of others have, so I sent it over to [email protected] for them to sort out. Honestly, these lot should find something better to do instead of disturbing everyone’s day!

Got an email with identical info. Nearly gave my details to cancel the payment like it said. So glad I rang PayPal beforehand.

Total scam. Got an email that looked like it was from PayPal but turned out to be fake. I emailed the delivery company they mentioned and, no shocker, got a delivery failure notice straight back.

Got one of those dodgy PayPal scam emails again, probably from some dodgy foreigner. Honestly, if I had their real address, I'd go knock on their door and teach them a lesson. Just trashing it and hoping they catch some serious illness.

Blimey... DAN LOCKE seems to have been quite active today. I’m also one of those who received an email from PayPal about a payment of £35.85. Cheers, Lyndon

I keep gettin emails about a PayPal purchase from some company, but the email they use isn’t even linked to PayPal! Same person, same delivery address, same company every time. They really have zero creativity. Honestly, I wish they’d just call me so I could drag out the convo and waste even more of their time like they do with mine.

Just like everyone else mentioned, got an email with something about a payment to Brakes. I don’t even have a PayPal account. Pretty sure it’s a total scam.
