Got a call yesterday with a recorded message saying I’d just paid £95 for Amazon Prime renewal. I never made any payment! They asked me to press 1, but I didn’t. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I’ve received numerous calls over the past year or so, allegedly from a chap named Peter Stokes, claiming to be with the customer care team at Relief Energy. Oddly enough, each time it’s been from a different number, which makes me suspect it’s either one persistent scammer or a racket that’s been handed off to multiple fraudsters. Regardless, it’s clearly a Robocall or automated dialing system. My suggestion would be to simply disregard the calls and report them to Action Fraud. If enough people flag this issue, perhaps they’ll manage to put a stop to it once and for all.

A few days back I picked up a call by mistake cos I didn’t recognise the number right away. Nobody said a word before the call got cut off by them. After seeing what others have said here, I just let it ring when they called again today.

I seem to have received multiple calls over the past year or so, all claiming to be from a chap named Peter Stokes at the customer service team of Relief Energy. Curiously, each time it’s from a different number, likely fabricated, which leads me to suspect it’s the same fraudster or perhaps a whole bunch of them are sharing the details. Whichever the case may be, it’s undeniably a Robocaller or some kind of automated system. My suggestion would be to disregard the call entirely and report it to Action Fraud. If enough people flag this, perhaps they can put an end to it once and for all.

Have a look at the posts from around half a dozen down from here. There’s loads of advice on what these scams are and how to handle them. Sadly, most folks either don’t want to scroll back or if they do, they won’t bother taking action. That’s exactly why these scammers keep winning - they’re laughing all the way to the bank ‘cos their scams hardly ever get reported. Once one trick gets them some cash, they’ll just switch up the phone number and try again with the same scam.

The call came from Peterborough, which is where I live, but the caller didn’t say a word. I kept the phone on just to check if anyone would respond, thankfully no one did. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened, and it’s starting to get a bit worrying!

I got a call on my landline from 01733 809539 claiming to be Amazon, saying my membership was up and I needed to pay £5 to keep it. I just hung up straight away because it sounded like a total scam. They've rang me a bunch of times but I've ignored it, and as soon as my answerphone comes on they just hang up. Definitely dodgy.

I got a call from Peter Stokes, or so it seemed, but it was actually some automated thing that pretends to be someone real. When you respond, it just jumps to the next question automatically. Just for a laugh, I gave some silly responses and the system totally freaked out and ended the call. Definitely a scam, no doubt about it.

Got a call from a bloke claiming to be Peter Stokes, asking if I owned the property. I said I wasn’t really comfortable sharing details on the phone. He kept pushing, saying he was contacting all homeowners nearby because of supposedly high energy consumption and that his firm, Energy Relief Solutions, could offer some help. I told him to stop calling since I’m registered with TPS and that I wasn’t interested. Then he just hung up on me.

Here’s a quick guide on how to use the system the police (NFIB) have put in place to make it simple for everyone to report scam texts, calls, emails, and fraud attempts. I only found out about this after raising my concerns about all the scam calls I kept getting with my MP. You won’t find scammers wanting this info out there easily. If no one reports these scams, don’t expect them to stop anytime soon. While reporting to 7726, your phone network, Ofcom, or the companies scammers pretend to be does help a bit, these reports often don’t reach the police for actual criminal action.

Received a call at precisely 17:55 on Wednesday, 12th January 2023. The area code 01733 corresponds to Peterborough, if I’m not mistaken. I chose not to answer as the number wasn’t familiar and wasn’t saved in my contacts. There was no voicemail left, which leads me to believe it was likely a nuisance marketing call.

I had a call from this number on the 24th of November, 2022. The business is named Relief Energy and seems to be based in Digbeth. They’re promoting complimentary energy audits for homes, along with tips on cutting down energy expenses. It seems like they might be using this as a gateway to pitch solar panels, which they also showcase on their site. The website appears to be quite credible, though.
