Being a bit daft, I picked up a call from a number I didn’t recognise. There was silence for a bit, then I could hear a sigh before the line went dead. When I tried calling back, the message said something about free boiler services and that they’d get back to me soon. The number showed as being from St Austell, but the firm’s actually based in Penzance.

No idea who this is, never met anyone from St. Austell before. These spam calls are well annoying. I've blocked the number now, hope it doesn't ring again.

Some bloke called saying he was from Norwich and asked if I'd be keen on a government thing to swap my oil boiler for gas, even though I’m not on mains gas. I cut him off quickly and straight up asked what he was actually trying to sell. He said he wasn’t selling anything - never heard that one before! Ended the call there.

Phone rang about five times then suddenly went dead, no one actually spoke on the other end. Pretty weird!

this guy called me up real polite, asking about the old folks that lived here before us. i told him they’d moved abroad and then asked what it was about. he said he was ringing from some government place, something like an eco fund for swapping out boilers. i told him we don’t actually have a boiler since we use some heat exchange system instead. seemed like he didn’t really get what I was saying at all.

I've been inundated with calls from various numbers, all spouting the same ridiculous tripe about some supposed Government funding for boiler upgrades meant for those receiving benefits. It baffles me why anyone would think a bustling doctor's practice is part of that demographic. Honestly, it’s turning into an outrageous irritation! These scammers ought to face serious consequences-fines, prosecution, or even better, community service in a proper penitentiary. It's high time these culprits were made to pay for their incessant bother. - Caller: The Eco Fund

picked up after just a couple of rings, and there was this robotic voice telling me to ring back ASAP. number was 01726 249003, supposedly from around st austell. not sure about that 249 bit, doesn’t seem like it’s from their usual spots. anyway, no way i’m coughing up for the callback. like folks say around here, "laughed my head off". looks like it's from some kind of boiler service - something starting with 'we w 1726', but at least i’m not out any money!

I got a call from someone claiming to be my partner, but he’s been gone for 28 years now. The moment I heard that, I just slammed the phone down. What a nuisance! Bloody annoying.

If you fit the requirements for that government program, you could get a brand new boiler along with maintenance covered for three years.

Got a call on my mobile from someone mentioning a “survey” about homes not using mains gas. I kindly told them I wasn’t interested and requested they remove my number from their list.
