I came across a site claiming to help you find out if you’re owed payment protection insurance, and they mentioned a free check. Out of curiosity, I decided to give it a go, providing my name, postcode, and mobile number. Shortly after, I received a text from this number stating they’d send me a form through the mail to complete. After doing a bit of digging on the number, it appears it might be dodgy! Just a heads up to everyone to stay vigilant!

I got a rather dodgy text on my phone from this number, saying I’d asked for a FREE PPI check, which I certainly hadn’t! Then, just two hours later, another message came through from a different mobile asking for my full name and address. That email address mentioned was [email protected]. A brief online search connected it to Claim4You, who seem to be in the PPI game; their fee setup is a clear red flag for scams.

I can hardly believe the audacity of these individuals! My 87-year-old mother received a message from them during the night, just as she was finally dropping off to sleep after grappling with her insomnia. The text claimed she had solicited a complimentary PPI assessment, which completely bewildered her. Naturally, it left her quite shaken, as she had no clue what they were on about. We’ve resorted to setting up an answering machine on her home phone due to being inundated with these pesky calls, and lo and behold, they’ve now turned their attention to her mobile! It’s infuriating to think of these opportunistic nuisances targeting our elderly and vulnerable! Is there truly no way to fend off these leeches from exploiting those who are most at risk?
