Honestly, no clue who it was. This woman, sounded Indian and said her name was Jane, kept calling me by the wrong name. She even had the cheek to say I was mispronouncing my own name! Was having a rough day and ended up calling her a rude name which I usually never do!! Then outta nowhere, the same number rings back a minute later, so I just honked a horn my little boy left on the table. Felt awful but kinda relieved at the same time.

Got a call from an Indian guy called David saying he was from TPS. He told me the old TPS service was ending soon and they’re changing it to block not just local and national calls but international ones too. Then he said since I was already on the old TPS, it wouldn’t cost me anything except a connection fee of £21. That’s when I just hung up.

Hey everyone who uses BT. I just had a chat with the legit BT team and they told me they NEVER ring you out of the blue without sorting it in writing first. They told me the best thing to do is just hang up straight away. Then you can call 1572 and go through the options to block calls if your phone line supports it (which is pretty simple to get going if you haven’t set it up yet).

I received a rather dubious call on my landline today, the 5th of March, 2019. The individual on the other end claimed to be from the Telephone Preference Service, offering assistance in preventing nuisance calls. They requested my bank details to “confirm my identity”, which raised an immediate red flag for me as no information was shared in return. To add insult to injury, I’ve had another five calls from the very same number throughout the day, all insisting on updating an “account” that doesn’t exist in my records. This smells distinctly like a scam to me! The chap identified himself as Ron.

Had almost the exact same thing happen to me. They knew my name and where I live, then asked about a debit card expiring the following year and wanted the code for my direct debit (she claimed it was right under my name on my card/bank statement/cheque book). I didn’t give any info and asked who they really were. The woman initially said they worked for the UK’s entire telephone blocking service (!!). I rang up BT and my bank afterwards and they confirmed it was likely a scam, so glad I didn’t share anything.

I received a call at 11:33, but when I picked up, it was silent on the other side. Then again at 12:18, I was greeted by an Indian gentleman claiming to represent the Telephone Preference Service. He inquired if I was still being pestered by unwanted calls. I replied in the affirmative, mentioning that I was currently on the receiving end of one-so I bluntly told him to get lost! Anticipating the usual spiel about needing my card information, I promptly ended the conversation.

got a call from some asian guy pretending to be from telephone preference management, asking for my card expiry date, totally blatant scam. i kept going on about data privacy and he just told me to call him back (i had already blocked the number tho). honestly, just block or hang up, no point messing about.
