Honestly, no clue who it was. This woman, sounded Indian and said her name was Jane, kept calling me by the wrong name. She even had the cheek to say I was mispronouncing my own name! Was having a rough day and ended up calling her a rude name which I usually never do!! Got a call from an Indian guy called David saying he was from TPS. He told me the old TPS service was ending soon and they’re changing it to block not just local and national calls but international ones too. Then he said since I was already on the old TPS, it wouldn’t cost me anything except a connection fee of £21. That’s when I just hung up.

Hey everyone who uses BT. I just had a chat with the legit BT team and they told me they NEVER ring you out of the blue without sorting it in writing first. They told me the best thing to do is just hang up straight away. Then you can call 1572 and go through the options to block calls if your phone line supports it (which is pretty simple to get going if you haven’t set it up yet).

Today I got a call on my home phone, dated 05/03/2019, from someone claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. They said they could assist me in stopping annoying calls! Then they asked for my bank info to "confirm my identity", which I obviously refused to give. Later, I got about 5 more calls from that exact number, with the caller saying they needed to "update my account" - but I don’t have any such account. Feels very dodgy like a SCAM to me! Had almost the exact same thing happen to me. They knew my name and where I live, then asked about a debit card expiring the following year and wanted the code for my direct debit (she claimed it was right under my name on my card/bank statement/cheque book). I didn’t give any info and asked who they really were. The woman initially said they worked for the UK’s entire telephone blocking service (!!). The scammers must be onto this, cos lately I’ve been getting a constant stream of UK numbers on both my landline and mobile, but I’m pretty sure they’re actually being routed all the way from somewhere like Delhi. One number rang me six times just today (there it goes again). I answered once but said zip, and the caller hung up right away. Every time I block one number, another pops up like magic. It’s absolutely criminal. I’m honestly thinking about getting a kids’ whistle to really give these muppets a shock when they try the usual CAB, insurance, or tech support scams and won’t take no for an answer. Got called by this number thrice, kept blocking it. Always lets it go to voicemail, bit annoying. Missed picking up this time though.

At 11:33 this number rang but no one answered. Then at 12:18, an Indian man got through saying he was with the Telephone Preference Service. He asked if I was still receiving annoying calls and I said yes, actually just got one now, told him to buzz off! Figured he’d want my card details next, so just hung up straight away.

got a call from some asian guy pretending to be from telephone preference management, asking for my card expiry date, totally blatant scam. i kept going on about data privacy and he just told me to call him back (i had already blocked the number tho). honestly, just block or hang up, no point messing about.
