So on 13th May 2020, I got a call from someone who already knew my first name, which instantly felt dodgy. They said they could assist with claiming marriage tax allowance. I quickly clocked it was a scam and asked where exactly they were calling from. The person said it was some sort of agency meant to support claimants, but I told them the allowance didn’t apply to me anyway.
