An Indian gentleman rang me up, asserting there was an issue with my Microsoft setup. I calmly advised him to take a hike and leave me out of his dodgy schemes.

I just had a phone call a short while ago today, 1st November, at around 14:21. The bloke on the line claimed to be from Microsoft, insisting there was an issue with my computer and wanted to confirm if I, (insert my name), was indeed the owner. Having already done my homework on this number, I recognised it as a scam straight away. I told him there was absolutely nothing wrong with my computer and to kindly refrain from bothering me with such calls!

This morning at 9, I received a call from a lady with an Indian accent. I was well aware it was a con, yet I decided to humour her for a bit. She claimed my computer was in perfect working order, but somehow it had been hacked and was in jeopardy. I swiftly let her know that I was onto her little game and firmly instructed her to depart (let's just say I chose some more colourful language) and requested she cease contacting me. I'm fully cognizant that she, or perhaps another one of her ilk, will inevitably ring me again. I've been enduring these sorts of calls from various numbers over the years. Thankfully, my wits are still intact, allowing me to recognise these scams for what they truly are.

I received word from Microsoft that this number is quite outdated in their records. It seems there’s a concern that someone has gained unauthorised access to my Microsoft licence and is misusing it. A chap named 'Michael' has expressed the desire to revoke the current licence and issue a fresh one. I spoke to BT about it and they confirmed I haven’t incurred any charges for any calls to this number. It’s rather unsettling that BT would permit a legit number that’s no longer in use to be adopted by someone else purporting to act on behalf of the firm.

I received a rather dodgy phone call from a chap with an Indian accent claiming to be from Microsoft. He insisted that I was facing issues with my computer, which I found quite peculiar since I don’t even own one! So, I politely informed him of my situation and hung up. It felt like the simplest escape from what seemed like a downright scam. My instincts told me to steer clear of him.

I received a call from an Asian gentleman purporting to be from Microsoft, insisting there was an issue with my computer. When I informed him that I didn’t own any Microsoft device, he probed further about what kind of computer I did possess. I told him I actually didn’t have one at all, and just like that, he cut the line! Quite the peculiar encounter, I must say!

Cautionary note! This morning at precisely 8:40am, we received a call that turned out to be dubious in nature. Despite our awareness of the rampant scams and hacking attempts out there, two of our team members were unfortunately duped into believing that our computer had been compromised on Christmas Day, with our personal details floating about online. The callers claimed to represent Microsoft and, even after posing numerous questions, they provided an address in Reading. Midway through the call, our line was disconnected. After conducting some research on the number, it became abundantly clear that it was a con. They attempted to siphon money from our credit card, but thankfully, they were unsuccessful. The individual I spoke with identified himself as Shaun Michael, using the phone number 0131 618 8661.

I received a couple of calls within a brief span of five minutes, from a chap with an Indian accent who insisted he was representing Microsoft. When I asked him to substantiate his claim, he replied that he could do so if I powered up my computer. I made it clear that I was sceptical about the legitimacy of his call.

Just received a phone call around half past three from a chap with an Asian accent, claiming he was from Microsoft. He insisted that my computer had been compromised. I wholeheartedly concur with the sentiments expressed here; this whole experience reeks of deception! It's rather alarming to see how prevalent these scams have become. It baffles me that we hand over substantial amounts to BT annually, only to find ourselves swamped by these unscrupulous tactics. It's high time BT took action to remedy this situation, don’t you think?

I received a rather peculiar phone call today from a chap named John Matthews, claiming he was with Microsoft, though he had a strong Indian accent. He went on about how my computer was supposedly being targeted by hackers globally. When I pointed out that this sounded very much like a scam, he threatened to block my computer since I wasn’t taking him seriously. He ominously declared that I shouldn't say I hadn’t been forewarned before abruptly ending the call, leaving me rather bemused by the whole encounter!

My BT8500 hardly ever lets unwelcome callers through; it only rings a couple of times before diverting any number I don’t recognise straight to my voicemail. Honestly, it’s a relief and I can’t say I'm troubled by pesky calls any longer. I’d definitely suggest this phone to anyone searching for a similar solution!

Today at 3:45 PM, I received a call from the aforementioned number. My landline has BT's call screening feature, meaning that callers need to announce themselves before the line connects. It’s rather peculiar how these nuisance calls never seem to identify themselves and tend to just hang up. It’s quite irritating, especially since I receive such interruptions multiple times a day. I don’t always check the last number that called, but today I did, which led me to discover the number in question. After a rather unpleasant exchange with a scammer who told me to f*** off, I opted to invest in new telephones that include this screening service. They weren’t overly pricey and have proven to be an excellent investment.

When I pointed out that this was clearly a scam and stated I wouldn’t be turning on my computer, the individual launched into a tirade of verbal abuse. He went so far as to call me a ‘silly girl’ and threatened that if I didn’t hang up, he'd do something sinister from his end. Of course, I realised he couldn’t actually follow through, but it left me quite shaken. I promptly ended the call and avoided using my phone for a bit.
