Got a call from an insurance firm - I picked up and could hear loads of noise in the background like normal. I said hello a couple times, the person on the other end laughed and kept chatting with someone else halfway through me speaking. They never gave their name, just asked if I was the person they wanted. Really not very professional. When I asked who was on the line, they said it was an insurance company. Wouldn’t waste your time with them.

I’ve just received a call from a chap claiming he was conducting an insurance review on behalf of Aviva and Royal London. He was situated right in the bustling high street, pestering me with questions. When I declined to engage, he abruptly ended the call. Given that I’m in the insurance sector myself, I’m well aware of the various dodgy tactics and scams that can crop up. Quite alarming, really!

LIFE INSURANCE REVIEW PLACE, THE WOMAN JUST READ OUT NAMES OF COMPANIES THEN ENDED THE CALL. SHE DIDNT EXPLAIN WHAT THE CALL WAS ABOUT AND GOT FRUSTRATED WHEN I ASKED WHY THEY MENTIONED THEIR COMPANY BUT JUST RECITED INSURER NAMES. DEFINTELY SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM, HER ENGLISH WAS REALLY HARD TO UNDERSTAND TOO.

Yesterday I picked up but the call just cut off, today I answered again and the bloke said he’s from sun life, admiral and some other firms. He had a strong accent and kept pushing that I HAD to check my life insurance, was really pushy about it. I told him it was a cold call and I wasn’t interested, then he just ended the call.

Got a call from 01704 524940, which sounds like another number from Southport. They said they were from some Insurance Review Board. The person had an Indian accent and it was clearly a scam. As soon as I asked for their FCA registration, they just hung up on me!

Some bloke said he was from an Insurance review team, saying he’s calling for ALL insurance clients or something like that. If it’s not a con, then it sounds like some cold calling from a brokerage. Asked him where he got my info from and after ages on hold (since they rang me, I didn’t mind waiting), he just ended the call. To be fair, he was quite polite up till then.

Got a call from someone called David O Reilly saying he was from Insurance Review. He mentioned I’d been a loyal customer for my life insurance, naming a few companies I’ve dealt with. I told him he had the wrong info and asked to be taken off their list, but he just got pushy and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Ended up hanging up and blocked the number.
