I picked up and just said “hello,” then there was this awkward silence for about 3 seconds before the line went dead and some female voice quietly said “goodbye.” Really makes me think, what could they even get from that call? Strange behaviour.

On the 12th of November i had this exact same thing happen. When i asked the woman who she was calling on behalf of, she just cut me off and hung up right away.

Got a call from a guy who wanted to know if I was - my name -. As soon as I said yes, he just ended the call. Another annoying call to add to the list.

I got a call from a woman who said she was ringing about a crime awareness initiative because apparently there’s been a rise in local crimes. She went on about some kind of ‘monitor response system’ that would notify the authorities through your phone if something bad happened - she rattled off loads of different scenarios. She mentioned it was free if you were between 50 and 80 years old, and asked if I fell into that bracket. When I tried to find out whether they were a government body or just a private firm, she just cut me off straight away.
