Got a call from this bloke claiming my computer had issues. He had an Indian accent. I told him I suspected it was a con, and he actually owned up before hanging up. My husband also got one of their calls and almost gave them a code. Complete muppets. Luckily, they’ve stopped ringing now.

Got a call on my home phone around 1:25 pm on 8th Feb 2018 from a bloke claiming to be from Microsoft. He told me my PC was infected with a virus that would wipe out all my files. When I asked for proof, he gave me an 0800 number to call back on. I ended the call there. Later, I used the 1471 service to find out who called me, and it came up as number 01698 740659.

I got a call from a lady with quite a strong Indian accent, saying there was an issue with my computer. She kept pushing me to follow some key presses, claiming it would sort the problem, but I didn’t need to actually open the internet myself. When I asked if she was from Microsoft, she said no, which was odd since she was quoting Microsoft stuff. We went round in circles with her insisting I press those keys. Eventually, I told her my son works in IT fraud - that’s when she just hung up. Pretty obvious it was a scam.

So, my mother in law gave me a ring while I was at work, all flustered because someone called her asking about her computer - problem is, she doesn’t own one. Funny enough, I’d left my laptop at her place for repairs, so she was worried she’d messed up somehow. I reassured her she’d done nothing wrong, but she was quite shaken up, especially since she’s retired and not used to this stuff. These scam callers are proper a nuisance. The TPS list seems useless too since they’re clearly masking their real phone numbers with some kind of spoofing tech.

Got a call from this number today at 12:04. The bloke claimed my computer was at risk because Microsoft was being hacked. I played along and pretended to sympathise with folks having that ‘issue’. He asked me to turn on my computer, which I said I already had - even though I was just in the kitchen. Then he wanted remote access to my PC. After a while, I told him I didn’t even use Microsoft, and he instantly hung up! I’m amazed this number hasn’t been switched to 'caller withheld'. Why isn’t the government cracking down on these scammy companies?

Had this bloke ring me up saying there was a problem with my computer. Played along and kept him chatting for ages. Kept saying, "What was that again? I can’t see anything on the screen."
