11 yearsI received an unexpected call from an elderly lady who first inquired about my identity. I foolishly revealed my name, and she promptly wanted a word with me. When I clarified that I was indeed speaking to her, she surprisingly asked to chat with my wife - which, of course, happens to be me! At that point, I thought perhaps she was suffering from some sort of confusion. I then asked how I might assist her, and she bizarrely claimed to be my mother. I had to firmly inform her that she was mistaken, and in a rather peculiar twist, she wanted to know what I could give her! That sent chills down my spine, so I decided to say nothing, and eventually, she hung up on her own. When I attempted to return the call, the line was perpetually busy, and all I got was the BT 1571 answering service. I can only imagine she’s causing distress for others as well! In a fit of frustration, I left her a message pretending to be 'her daughter,’ asking her to give me a ring back. Honestly, it’s infuriating - what if my child had picked up the receiver? Using a familiar local number is just foul! It's astonishing how twisted some individuals can be. I’m still a bit rattled...
