Got one of them calls saying "You was in an accident back in 2019 and there's £3,000 waiting for you from the other party." Reckoned straight away it was a con, but I played along and asked when the crash happened, then the call just cut off.

I just received a call from someone looking for a individual that doesn’t reside in my area. They mentioned that my number had been used to request a life insurance quote and wondered if I’d be keen to explore that option. Quite peculiar, really!

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! Got a call from a foreign woman asking about life insurance. My wife told her the police were keeping an eye on our phone because we’ve been getting loads of scam calls. We tried calling back twice using 141 to hide our number. First time, a woman picked up and actually said my husband’s name. Second time, a bloke answered and also asked for my husband by name. BE CAREFUL, BE CAREFUL. Seems like they hadn’t hung up properly and might’ve been eavesdropping on any other calls we made.

Somebody rang saying they were doing an insurance review and dropped names of loads of well-known insurers like they were representing them. When I asked if they were actually linked to these firms and what the call was about, they just ended the call. The fact she kept calling me "love" was a big red flag. Sounds like a phishing attempt or just a cold sales call trying to find out if I had life insurance and how much coverage.

The person claimed to be from AIG insurance, but the connection was awful and the call dropped. I’m not convinced a proper UK landline would sound that distorted. Feels like a scam to me.
