Got a call from some bloke using a name I gave ages ago, like 11 years back, trying to push life insurance on me. Told him I wasn’t interested, then he started questioning what kind of mum I was, saying I wanted bad stuff to happen to my family. Since he was using an old name of mine, I mentioned GDPR and he just shrugged it off like he didn’t give a toss. Proper nasty guy.

Yeah, it’s about life insurance. When I told the person that the company paying for this phone asked no calls on it, she just hung up on me. Then I called again and spoke to someone different, explained the same thing, and she was like, “Alright, I’ll make a note,” but then went straight back to life insurance! You really wanna say, “Aren’t you bloody listening to me?” There should seriously be rules against these dodgy time wasters, they need shutting down for good.

Hung up and blocked - something to do with insurance. The bloke said his name was David but spoke in a language I could barely make out. There was so much background noise, it was impossible to understand him. I asked him to say it again but ended up cutting the call off and blocking them because I’m fed up with these sorts of calls. They use different numbers but it’s always foreigners on the line. Blocked for good!

01639 330750 kept ringing me with an automated message saying my internet was hacked and to press 1 for a tech expert. They claimed to be from Open Reach and told me to download an app from the Apple store called quick support. When I asked for a callback number, they just ended the call straight away. I rang my internet provider who said they wouldn’t ever ask customers to download anything like that. The calls kept coming over several days from different numbers. I’ve now blocked them.

Like I mentioned earlier, she said the company was called Life Protect so I checked it out. There’s no firm by that name anywhere in Skelmersdale, the only one I got was Life Protect 24/7 in the States, so pretty sure it’s a scam.

Almost straight away, she rang me again, this time from a Runcorn number-01928639334. She claimed she wasn’t sure how the previous call got disconnected. I remained courteous and let her know that I had indeed hung up and would be blocking her again, which I did! Found it quite amusing, to be honest!

Got a call where the person asked if I was living at my old postcode, said she wasnt selling anything or trying to promote stuff, then asked how old I was. I gave an answer but when she kept asking questions, I told her I was busy and ended the call.

I looked up car insurance on comparethemarket[###] just yesterday, and from what others are saying here, it looks like they might share your info with the insurance companies. It’s happened to me a few times when I use quote comparison sites like comparethemarket[###] - you fill out your info and then bam, the insurers start calling you out of nowhere to try and win your business. I received a rather unsolicited call from someone claiming to be conducting a life insurance review “to help me save some cash and perhaps enhance my coverage.” She boasted about working with all the insurance firms in the UK and was adamant that I hadn’t had a review in six months. However, when I questioned her about how she had this information, considering I do not currently have life insurance, she was a bit taken aback. Then, in a rather bold move, she suggested that I might require hospitalisation and urgently needed insurance for that. I couldn’t help but ask, “What’s the NHS for then?” It seemed like the concept didn’t quite register with her. Ultimately, I told her there was no way I was sharing any personal details and promptly hung up. Whether it was a scam or not, I firmly believe in guarding my information against cold callers.
