Just want to say sorry for the confusion earlier, I accidentally added an extra zero which made the number look like it was coming from the US. Without the extra zero, the number actually appears quite local. I phoned the local number and spoke with an older man - turns out I was the sixth person that morning telling him he’d called us. It’s clear this is really distressing for him. Please remember these scammers often use the phone numbers of genuine people. Something really has to be done about this, the UK government should step up and take stronger action.

Got a call from a number that looked local, but it was one of those automated ones claiming to be my internet provider. They were warning about a supposed security breach involving foreign countries and said my Wi-Fi would be disconnected within a day or two. It's the typical scam where they tell you to press 1 to speak to an engineer. Just a heads up - even if the caller ID looks familiar, it might be a trick!

Just realised I posted the wrong number before, sorry about that! There was an extra zero in it, which made it look like it was coming from the US. Without that zero, it actually looks like a pretty nearby number. Bit sneaky, that!
