Received a call from a chap named Paul, who, surprisingly, had a voice reminiscent of a robotic telephone service, yet he was very much a real person. He was “promoting” an energy efficiency assessment in my neighbourhood, but given the variety of locations this number has popped up from in the past week, I reckon that might be somewhat of a stretch. He seemed to have information about my home insulation, but mistakenly believed that we were connected to mains gas, which is quite far from reality. Once I afforded him a brief 10-second interval to end the conversation, he graciously hung up. I have an inkling that he might have been gearing up to discuss swapping my (non-existent) gas boiler for a heat pump as part of some new Government initiative.
