5 monthsReceived a call from a woman with a strong accent, said she was from O2 warning me my SIM would be switched off in two days. She said not to worry as they’d post a new SIM to my home the next day. She wanted me to confirm my email, so I slowly gave her my address letter by letter. As soon as I finished, the line went dead. Afterwards, a message popped up saying I’d been disconnected from a conference and the number was now blocked. Definitely sounded like some kind of scam to me.5 monthsThe phone barely rang before it stopped, like just a second or two, so I didnt even get a chance to pick up. Reading through the comments, seems like this might be happening to a lot of others too. Quite fishy if you ask me.6 monthsMy landline showed this number labelled as "nuisance," and as soon as I picked up, they hung up right away. I've noticed scam calls before from numbers that are only one or two digits off, so I've gone ahead and blocked this one too.6 monthsAround 1:30 in the afternoon on 23rd December, a guy with an accent that wasn’t British rang me up, claiming he was from Sky about some sort of maintenance on our TV gear. I told him we don’t have Sky, then he quickly switched to say it was “BT or some other provider - doesn’t matter, it’s about keeping your EQUIPMENT maintained, Madam.” I then told him we’re not with BT either and to quit trying to scam people. He hung up pretty sharpish. Could hear loads of noise in the background like it was a busy call centre.SkyBTMadam6 monthsGot a call from some bloke claiming he was David, saying something about my Sky service needing maintenance. He had a foreign accent, same as before, and even gave the same name and reason, but used a different phone number this time. I told him straight up that he was a scammer and ended the call. Then I blocked the number and reported it to be safe.DavidSky6 monthsGot a call from someone claiming to be Sky maintenance. I don’t even have Sky! Ended the call right away. Total scam.Sky6 monthsI got a call from someone with an Asian accent who claimed they wanted to check the maintenance on my Sky box. I quickly told them I wasn’t interested and ended the call. I’m based in Birmingham.SkyBirmingham6 monthsI picked up the phone, but the caller hung up straight away.6 monthsI didn’t pick up, and they never bothered to leave a voicemail.6 monthsMy mother in law, who’s 86 and suffers from early dementia, got a phone call from some scammers. They somehow convinced her to share her card info over the phone (I didn’t even realise she still had the card). Fingers crossed they haven’t managed to steal anything yet. I’m heading to the bank first thing tomorrow to block the card and make sure nothing dodgy happens. Absolutely awful people!6 monthsThey called while we weren’t home but left no voicemail. After looking it up here, I’ve decided not to return the call.6 monthsSomeone rang saying they were from Sky, but it was dodgy. When I asked a few questions they just hung up. Definitely a scammer!Sky6 monthsDefinitely a scam from some fake "Sky Assured Maintenance" lot. They were telling me my TV insurance ran out but didn’t even know who the policy was under. Pretty obvious stuff since I've never owned Sky gear, not now or ever before.Sky6 monthsI’ve picked up this number a couple of times already and the person on the other end always sounds pretty friendly. Every time I’ve spoken to them, the chat felt quite easy-going and polite. Seems like they genuinely wanna have a proper conversation, not just some annoying automated call or sales pitch.6 monthsSome bloke rang saying he was with Sky maintenance, but when I told him I don’t have Sky, he claimed that was just the company name and it wasn’t actually Sky. Then he insisted I’d signed a contract two years ago and had been paying monthly through my TV deal. I told him no way! If you get a call like this and you’re unsure, just ask for the contract name and double check directly with your provider. Seems to me they’d send an email if a contract needed renewing, right?Sky6 monthsGot a call saying my Sky insurance needs renewing, but I don’t even have that insurance. Total scam, so I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number.Sky6 monthsI chose not to pick up and they never left a voicemail. I told her I never insured my TV. Then she switched it up and said the insurance for my broadband, router, and sky box needed renewing. I told her none of that stuff was ever insured with them.
