Got a call from someone with an Indian accent, I told them straight up I use the Guardian call blocking thing. Said “No thanks, goodbye” and then sorted it by blocking them, haha.

He rang me up and asked if I was (his surname), and stupidly I said yes. Then he wanted to know if I was a pensioner, which I denied. Next, he asked how old I was, but I told him I wasn’t sharing that info and then he just hung up. Why on earth would a phone preference company need to know if I’m a pensioner? Sounds fishy, like they’re targeting older people for a scam.

So this bloke called up, said his name was Jason King and claimed he was from Amazon, asking about some parcel I hadn’t even missed. I told him straight up that I’d not lost any parcel and reckoned he was a proper scammer. Told him to stop wasting people’s time and maybe try getting a real job instead of scamming folks.

I got a ring from this number earlier. The bloke said it was some kind of call blocking service I didn’t ask for. When I asked if he meant something like the one I already use, he got pretty nasty. Then he asked if I was deaf since I wasn’t paying attention. I told him I’m actually a bit hard of hearing, and he had the cheek to say I should get my eyesight checked! In the end, I just said thanks for the laugh and told him to have a good life.

Got a call from some dodgy guy claiming that fancy tech could tell the difference between pesky calls and personal ones. He then asked for the expiry date on my debit card linked to my direct debit. That was the first I'd ever heard of such a thing - I only ever gave them my account number. So, I just kept chatting to him, trying to run down his patience. Eventually, he sounded well annoyed, and I lost interest too.

I told them I was tied up and they said they’d ring back the next day. After seeing what others have said here, I’m definitely not picking up if they call again.

Got a call from some guy with an Indian accent who said his name was Jason, claiming he worked for a call blocking company. I told him, "Mate, that’s not your real name." He then said he uses "Jason" because people can’t say his actual Indian name properly. I just laughed and said, "Sure, and you lot run your scam calls from an Indian call centre, right?" Had a scam call from something called Call Blocker and ended up chatting with them for like 21 minutes. I just made up some fake bank info and kept messing about to waste their time. Figured if I keep them busy, they’re less likely to bug someone else and trick them. If you see these scammers ring, try to stall them a bit, it might stop others getting caught out.

Some bloke rang me saying he could end all these annoying calls, then asked for my credit card info that I use for the phone bill. I mentioned I had a couple of cards and the one I said expired back in Jan 23. He didn’t even flinch or say anything about the date being old, so clearly cheating wasn’t in his playbook. Didn’t get the chance to check if his deal would actually stop him calling me back though.

Trouble is, they don’t have this landline on file, so no idea who it was trying to reach.
