Got a call today and all I heard was quiet, then the phone just cut off. Lately, I’ve been getting those dodgy calls about medical alert pendants from numbers that look similar but end differently, so I’m guessing they’re faking the number. I reckon scammers might be listening to see if a bloke or a lass picks up during the day, and if it’s a bloke, they just hang up straight away!

I got a call from someone claiming to be from a health service company, telling me I’d be sent an emergency alert pendant to wear, supposedly paid for by the NHS or Government. They said it would cost me £29 a month and the total item value was £350. They told me I’d get it within 5 days and that it would be mine permanently. When I told them I wanted to mull it over, the person on the other end just said I could take my time forever and then abruptly hung up! Looks like they were after my bank info but didn’t manage to get it.

This morning at half past nine, I received a call at the home of a woman I look after who unfortunately has dementia. The caller was relentless, insisting on some sort of alarm button. I explained we already had one in place, but things quickly turned sour. He became rather rude, and I must admit, I wasn’t in the mood to take it quietly. After that, he had the audacity to ring me back twice, continuing his aggressive nonsense. So, I made sure to give him a proper dressing down!

I explained that I didn’t require one, and then they abruptly ended the call. It's quite unsettling, as I can easily see how someone who’s more vulnerable might fall for such tactics.
