I got a call from someone claiming to be with British Gas Homecare, saying my plan had been altered and they needed to verify my info. Definitely didn’t sound like they were from Northumberland, if you catch my meaning. After a bit, I had enough and told them to jog on. They kept pushing though.

Had no clue who they were or what they wanted, the English was terrible with a thick accent, I couldn’t make out the words at all (they just ran together). Really eager and just kept asking questions even after I started replying in choppy English, mumbling bits of words so they only heard nonsense now and then. Still, they didn’t seem to care and just kept going right through it.

Totally a scam. They’re trying to fish for your personal info. I don’t bother blocking these numbers anymore because they hardly ever ring back from the same one, plus my phone has a limit on blocked numbers. I think scammers want us to max out the block list. I reported it to the police.uk Action Fraud site under the phishing section and also sent extra info to the NFIB like they asked. Honestly, that seems like the only real way to deal with these crooks in the long run.

I got a call from someone claiming to do a quick survey that’d only take half a minute. They kept saying my address wrong and when I wouldn't give my new one, they seemed to get really annoyed. I ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

But it just went to one of them ‘listen to options’ messages. I hung up straight away - reckon that’s cost me about £40! Anyway, that number’s on my block list now.
