No clue, just came up as 'silent'. Looks like the number’s from New Mills in Derbyshire, but that’s probably false since the caller ID has probably been spoofed. These days scammers often mess around with numbers to hide who they really are. It’s best to report any dodgy calls to the right authorities, phone companies, and the ICO. I got a couple of calls from this number, with the person saying they were ringing for the RNIB, asking about my experiences with charities related to sight loss. Apparently, this was linked to some contact I’d had with the RNIB, but that was ages ago, over a year back. The calls came one evening on Tuesday 20th October and then again on the afternoon of Thursday 22nd. Each time, it sounded quite legitimate. That said, I’m pretty sure I never gave permission for the RNIB or anyone representing them to carry out surveys, so I was a bit wary from the start. I just told them to let me know beforehand if they or some third party is going to call me again for surveys. If anyone else gets contacted like this, my tip is to agree in principle but ask the caller to ring back in a few days - this gives you time to double-check with the RNIB whether they’re actually running any surveys right now before you go ahead and answer anything.
