After I got off the phone, I looked up the number 0800 975 9596 he gave me to see if it was legit. Turns out, that number is linked to other companies doing research too. Bit confusing.

Got a call from 01663761298, a bloke called Ben saying he was carrying out some market research for the Free Society. He asked loads of questions about how safe I felt around here, how quick the police would arrive if needed, coronavirus stuff, and even some questions about transgender issues. He rang my elderly mum, who quickly twigged she shouldn’t really get involved but ended up jotting down some numbers he gave her. She did refuse to share her postcode, though.

I received a couple of calls over two nights from a chap using this number. He stated he was following up to see if I was content with my water and sewage services. Each time, I affirmed my satisfaction and inquired about the reason for his repeat call. To my surprise, he became rather flustered, claiming that he had erred. After that, he swiftly wished me farewell and hung up. Quite peculiar, if you ask me!

Someone rang me claiming to be from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority doing a survey about crime and policing. Then they suddenly asked for my contact info, saying it was for promotion, but I soon saw it was just for a telemarketing firm. I didn’t give them anything. Planning to file a complaint with GMCA and also report them to the ICO.

They said they were calling on behalf of the met office about the recent weather stuff. I knew right away it was a con, likely trying to grab personal details or mess with insurance claims. Got a call from someone pretending to be The Met Office, asking about the weather in my region. If the real Met Office can't tell the weather, then there's definitely an issue. Told them it’s illegal to call a number on the TPS list. They didn’t seem to get it. Pretty obvious they’re not legit or part of any government body like The Met Office.

I received a rather dubious call purporting to be from the Met Office, with the caller inquiring about the weather conditions in my location. If the Met Office is unaware of the weather in Britain, we clearly have a significant issue on our hands! I took the liberty of informing them that it's illegal to contact a number that is registered with the Telephone Preference Service. They seemed rather baffled by this information. It’s transparent that they are not affiliated with any legitimate governmental body like the Met Office!
